Nobody can ever know whether or not any applicant is in 'bad books' ; there are too many actors in the play. Professional, polite, persistent works well - mostly.
-
Ask them. In writing. The benefit of doing that (anyway) is to formalise the process of decision making. Ignore the issue until there's a response and do nothing on the ground until you have a response.

What a bloody good idea. And it's one eejits like me can use in all sorts of situations.

Going rate for labour in Glasgow area
ToughButterCup replied to eandg's topic in Bricklaying, Blockwork & Mortar
Good luck @eandg. No idea of your labour costs, but if you can get labour in West Lancs, £1 per brick - two lads labouring on - and they don't work if it looks like rain. -
I measured with laser (three spots in each window: i.e. 6 measurements per opening), checked with tape, asked SWMBO to walk round with me and double check and record. To the mm. Three separate times. I was similarly completely terrified (The bill was £33k)

Site Insurance not Starting for 6 month

I could not agree more It may be that our build has been unluckier (not to say accident prone) than most........... -
Site Insurance not Starting for 6 month

I have a strong feeling that you are going to have to suck this one up..... Look at the worst case: tomorrow, when its all yours, financed by someone else, something awful happens on your land, and you aren't insured. ? -
Internal fit out process Part 2
ToughButterCup replied to Big Neil's topic in General Construction Issues
That'll be really cheap for us.... we give our chickens biscuit mix, they don't need a plate either - goes down a treat wherever..... Whassa biskit mix then Dave? -
Oh what a stupid Bear-With-A-Small-Brain I am. Thats what tiredness does to you: obscures the obvious. Both our bedrooms have windows (tilt and turn - thanks to Craig at Gaulhofer [Ecowin] for suggesting it) that are also doors. Now that @Ferdinand has pointed out that I can (might be expected to) install the fall-prevention outside the house the doors could easily form access to a juliette balcony. Otherwise called fall prevention..... Duhhhhhhhh. Better break out the stainless threaded bar and the resin pronto.
-
Now that she can walk around upstairs, (yes, I've popped the joists in roughly where they should be) Debbie wants a juliette balcony. And I am very aware of the perils of changing the design during the build. At this stage of the build, I think I could easily pop the infrastructure for a glass screen juliette in front of the window opening (in this case our window is a door acting as a window). And of course the SE would need to sign it off. But there will be some hidden gottchas here. Anyone care to argue why we shouldn't have a go at putting one in? I mean isn't it as easy as resining some thumping great stainless steel threaded bar in the concrete , and then screwing the glass to the bar?

Quartz miter join (upstand/worktop)

If it really is a suggestion: you don't need to accept it. He's that inexperienced is he? Hmmm. -
Foul drain or surface water? ...........

Some of ours (EPS300) took flight in a gale: hence aviation anti-collision lights too

I made the mistake of buying a site heater without asking the commentariat which one to buy. Maybe because I have a drum of red diesel knocking around I bought this little heap of shoo shoo. It spits diesel all over the floor. Hisses, farts, spews smoke everywhere, makes a noise like @Nickfromwales after 10 pints of foaming liquid, works when it feel like it - the colder the less likely it is to work. I'd prefer to buy one that uses red diesel. Or sawdust. Plenty of each at the moment.
-
To me, that is an open invitation to push the matter further. What did the person talking to you think? Why didn't she say anything else? Did you push the issue abt further?

Ebico sent me a letter saying that they needed to change the tariff (because of a legal decision) from the Zero tariff Quoting directly from the letter they sent me... We're writing to you following the recent decision to change your electricity tariff. Your new tariff will start on 29 Dec 2018. Your new prices We've provided further details on the next page about your Personal Projection and Tariff Information (the cost for your energy). What do you need to do next? If you're happy with the details you don't need to do anything else. We'll continue to make the changes for you. If not - please get in touch with us. Love and Kisses Ebico.

Read this board. End to end. I'm not joking. Really - no really. There is so much here. At least you won't ask questions that have been answered many times. -
All TV programmes have an agenda. And it won't be yours.

Mezzanine, planning
ToughButterCup replied to Russell griffiths's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Exactly what we are doing with the space. The space has been planned to have a large window either side of it - so the area will be ' open '. Just one thing : the supporting joists need to be carefully planned. In our case the SE specified doubling them up. -
15 minutes every morning ? Not going to happen. I do mine every Saturday in any week it has been used
