Installation of steels
Russell griffiths replied to CJE's topic in Lofts, Dormers & Loft Conversions
That looks like a massive amount of work to install a ridge beam, I would look at alternatives what are you actually trying to achieve, a lot of structural steel work is unnecessary but structural engineers like to stick it everywhere. -
Have you got a dpc tray at the bottom to reflect water to the outer skin.

I noticed your other post on your piling cost, that looks rather high unless you are building a car park, there are lots on here with a piled foundation and the general cost is normally half what yours are. Have you signed with a company yet as I would be getting some more quotes.

Best plaster for deep holes?
Russell griffiths replied to MJNewton's topic in Plastering & Rendering
I would leave it to him, I think he would be happier going over something he knows -
I think this looks like a good bit of kit.

Now it's the digger's turn to annoy me - with a water leak.
Russell griffiths replied to dnb's topic in Tools & Equipment
Do you ever think you must have been a really horrible bloke in a former life. I seem to have had about 3 months of everything I own either not starting, leaking or generally just falling to pieces some days I just want to smash it all up and buy a little flat in Spain and sit in a bar waiting to die. Sorry cannot help with pump, but I feel your pain. -
Sealing between riser sections of an I/C
Russell griffiths replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Waste & Sewerage
Nope, don’t air test the chamber. Have you brought them, as the last place I would buy them is the local BM unless you have too much money. -
Sealing between riser sections of an I/C
Russell griffiths replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Waste & Sewerage
Do you have them, all mine have the rubber ring installed in the riser piece. Mine are only 330mm so might be different for larger rings. -
Roughly 180

I have had two designs done for the ufh both come in very close on price, how many decided to buy all the bits separately and did you save much money after all the ringing around to get it separately. Both prices where around £1800 I wonder what sort of savings are to be had.

Trench for water connection and waste pipe
Russell griffiths replied to Ralfbean's topic in Waste & Sewerage
I would, but I would do it a bit differently. Wider trench so water one side drains on the other, the reason being your drain has to run at a certain angle to get the flow so you will need to do some careful calculations to get the depth of the trench correct, the water company will also want the water pipe at a specific depth, so yes but will require a bit of thought. -

tanking around floor core holes?
Russell griffiths replied to magnethead's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
I will have a google @magnethead but if you find a bit with manufacturers name on then that would be good. What type of fitting has he used with it. -
18mm osb is fine but it needs installing correctly sole plate needs securely fastening down then racking board needs to start with a full board stood up right, nail at the correct spacing and catching the first 3 studs, then repeat, don’t end up with a skinny bit on the corners, you should have full boards on the corners working away from them. If you have any internal walls dissecting a long run of external wall it might pay to turn that into a racking wall, you can just board the first 1200mm on the internal one and add strips to bring your plasterboard out flush. I take it you have no drawings for this just whinging it a bit, I’m no structural engineer but I have put up one or two timberframe houses so just going on what I had to do in the past. Have you goy the trusses up yet.
