I have a pipe de-coiler for sale if anyone wants first shout before it goes on ebay. Very good condition. £45.00 plus postage, not sure what postage would be yet but if anyone wants it I will look into it further.

Another point would be that the garage was integral and underneath the master bedroom. Could be a bit of a give away if it's suddenly detached with a flat roof.

Thanks chaps. The problem with that is I will have to remove half of the slab to re-instate to garden, otherwise I would have a large garage with a large concrete slab attached to the side of it. Not the most aesthetically pleasing view.

Thanks for the reply @Ferdinand I have just been to the council offices and had a chat with someone from Planning. If I choose to abort the build under the existing permission then I will have to re-submit a new Planning Application to rebuild a garage the same as the one I demolished 6 months ago and which I had Planning Permission for back in 1987. The fact that it has had a garage on the plot since then doesn't come into it apparently. What a complete and utter cock up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bit of a strange question this but here goes. On my plot, which is basically my garden, I demolished a large double garage to enable the footprint of the planned design. It took me a few years to get PP but eventually I got there. Now the goalposts have moved, and although the slab is down for the new build I am aborting the build, this is probably the last possible chance I would have to do this before it had gone too far. Can I reinstate the site to as it was prior to demolition, luckily the new garage sits more or less exactly where the original one was (that had planning permission some 30 years ago) and so I can utilise the new slab, or do I have to start going through a change of planning application. All and any advice appreciated.

Looks to me like these are "handed" and they have fitted the top one to the bottom and vise-versa.

In which case the suppliers will refuse to come onto this area. They will drop off any goods at the entrance and then that's another problem you have to deal with (especially if it's a concrete wagon)- 70 replies

Yes, I struggled with what they would pump as well. I asked for a 75mm slump, pump grade. The concrete company said that the minimum they could make pump grade was 95mm so I agreed to that. When it was delivered it was very similar to what you had there, and I would guarantee that it was a minimum of 120mm, maybe greater. The problem is, when you have the pump on site and set up, plus the required workforce, what do you do?? -
Can you not just get a man in with a stump grinder?? I had a number of decent sized stumps to remove and I paid about £80.00. He got fairly deep and wide with the grinder and I have no signs of anything coming back.

Air-tightness and wall plates (rim joists)

I always assumed that the air tight membrane would go underneath the rafters and then lap down and be sealed onto the internal wall face. Doing it this way it wouldn't go anywhere near the wall plate. Am I missing something?? -

I don't have SPONS so can't help you there but that price relates to £1.00 per brick where as @PeterW paid 0.50p a brick so I'd go with the "bit pricey" analogy. -
Until you start to use it, then you'll want washing facilities, wc, brewing space etc etc

In that case it could very well be structural. I assume there is a load bearing wall beneath what it is sat on. -

Is it V cut and sits under the purlin or is it just nailed to the face, could have been tacked in simply to run those cables up, as it's very close to the wall I wouldn't have thought it would be supporting much but it's hard to tell from the angle of that shot. -
Small quadrant or scotia mold between wall and string will cover any cracking.

As @jack has said. If the inspector said "let us know when plastering is complete" that's your get out of jail free card. Simply leave one (least needed) area void of plaster and get the rest of the house complete. Well done
