  1. Cut away a little more material until you could get a long nosed mole grip onto the broken screw.
  2. I am in the process of Installing a 4kw ground mount system, have panels up and cables to CU, I have emailed a few accredited solar installers, but they are not interested in connecting up the system for me as they did not supply / install it? Can a qualified electrician do this? I know about the G98 form requirement.
  3. Hi, I have a 9 panel, 3.68kw array on a ground mount frame, panels are in a row, just about to run wire for grid connection, trying to do what I can before calling a professional for wiring it up, is it just a single cable from the panels to grid connection or do I run two separate lengths of cable?
  4. Looking to put in a 4kw solar panel ground mount system, I am planning to buy a system on line, build my ground mount frame, and get a neighbor who is good with electrics to set this up ready for grid connection. I have a copy of thecG98 form, does the installer have to be accredited or have a formal qualification?
  5. I enquired about fitting GSE trays directly on to sarking, was told that was fine by the Solar energy store. As long as I had ply strip or batten underneath the sarking for secure hold for fixings, no mention of potential heat problems, would there be space for wires as well, anybody tried fixing this way with a slate roof?

  7. Hi, Agreed Icf builders are thin on the ground, did you think of looking for one in Ireland there seems to be quite a few there.
  8. Hi, Thanks for the reply, Am. Looking at a smaller system myself so appreciate the information ?
  9. I take it you are fitting a bigger solar system than 4kw? What does the CT clamp do? Thanks.
  10. Recently positioned a second hand static caravan on my site, in preparation for the arrival of the builder.... Had a manhole for sewer available, so positioned caravan over it, as it was easier for me to bring water and power to the caravan than the sewer.
  11. Thanks, So may not be worth the lager pv system, as you really need to be using all you are producing to get maximum value, as payback from grid is minimal, and an additional battery system would only mean more going to grid I guess?
  12. OK thanks, just looking into all potential options that offer the best future proof system, if that's possible ?
  13. Would it be possible to fit a 3.68kw system that could export to grid, and another 3.68kw system that just charged batteries? Or would it be possible to fit say a 6kw system, limit 3.68kw to grid, and fit a battery storage system for the remaining output? Do buildhub members find solar pv with battery storage offers a good return of investment over time? Thanks.
  14. Has anyone heard of this solar system? https://www.useallenergy.nl/contact/
  15. If you have a 6kw system and you are only aloud to export 3.6kw to the grid, What happens on the odd occasion when you are producing 6kw and not using any of that and grid is limited to 3.6?
  16. Fantastic result well done indeed ?
  17. You can save a substantial amount sourcing your own materials, the biggest problem is transportation of the polycarbonate sheets due to there length, I had fish farm pipe available so just needed sheets and the special H joints. A good diy project with big savings available.
  18. A question of time?? At the moment I have a strip foundation in place for an Icf build (145sqm) Simple rectangle. Potential builder said it would take 4 men two weeks to build fist two courses of blocks put in services drainage and suspended subfloor of 200mm of concrete and steel mesh? Any thoughts??
  19. Hi, Would the farmland you were gifted be part of a croft? Over recent years in Scotland people have been getting there crofts digitally Maped To be recorded accurately on the crofting register. ie showing any land within the boundaries of the croft that has been decrofted, and the full extent of the croft. If the croft owner was going to get his croft digitally Maped and measured he could show your decrofted part slightly bigger, so you have a clear title. You have to have this sorted, sounds like an honest mistake, less parties involved the better. Good luck.
  20. Your place is looking really good ? Very nice stairs, top quality job well done ?
  21. Be interested to know what the charges are ordering in an EU country from UK, Seems a large charge for a small order?
  22. Checked out your pics willbish, nice work, I can see the benefits of the tray system, will look really nice with finished slate on. ?
  23. Thanks willbish Will check out your pics later?
  24. What kind of price would you expect to pay for a complete 3.6kw system, could anyone recommend a place to get a price from, would it be a diy fit to a bungalow roof, are they best fitted before slate goes on?
