  1. Well that's at least a year spent.
  2. With masonry party walls we would use use the thin type A wall ties, medium density block plastered and 75mm cavity - either with or without insulation. For timber and metal frame walls and floors, look at the BG White Book and select what suits. You really need to go about it as if the rooms that want soundproofing are separate flats.
  3. Fair enough. Some systems are more adaptable to different reinforcing etc so best to have someone who has worked with it before. It is so annoying when you don't get emails and calls returned, but commonplace I am afraid.
  4. Have you asked your ICF supplier? We used Polarwall and they gave me a couple of recs.
  5. A grinder will be better. You won't cut brick and concrete with a multitool.
  6. I like the Makita 18v kit. I even use the batteries to run some LED strip in a lockup. Shame the radio does not charge the battery when it is plugged in.
  7. I am far from an expert, but the judgement seemed to be against the LPA and in favour of the developer. You will need to show that the design is exceptional in design and quality. Originally this was to enable wealthy entitled Tory scum people to build mansions in the countryside, but it seems to have changed a bit. The are lots of Grand Designs type schemes but some are fairly pedestrian.
  8. You can specify less bounce either bigger beams or blocks sideways.
  9. Normally they go in before.
  10. Probably just somehow came up in your search history.
  11. Good move. Make sure all the loads are securely slung. Ask the operator to check as you lift. You may need a walkie talkie if you can't see the operator. Maybe just call his mobile. Bet you wish you hadn't dragged the other string round one your own!
  12. It may be wine o'clock in chez @pocster
  13. The small spider cranes are only 600mm wide and run on tracks. https://www.uniccranes.com/spider-cranes/urw-094/
  14. I have to say I much prefer the design from @ETC. Loads more light coming in to the core of the house. Grandparents suite no longer off a corridor. Wraparound garden at the back. The plot does not really lend itself to a double fronted house as it is only about 11m wide. Food for thought.
  15. That one will be trickier as you don't have the wall there. This is not a job for one person without lifting gear. Can you get a spider crane in there?
  16. Historical use may help a bit but without a building there you are almost starting from scratch.
  17. The sink instructions have belt and braces approach, with a structural unit under plus mastic plus perimeter brackets resined into the underside of the worktop. On site I mostly see mastic only!
  18. Is this drop in or undermount? 1000mm sounds excessive. Can you post up the spec / install instructions?
  19. In a very well insulated house you only need a very small temperature difference between the slab and target room temperature. The worse the insulation / airtightness, the greater the required temperature difference. If the issue is with poor below slab insulation, you may do better adding some panel heaters. What age is the house?
  20. This is not a Party Wall matter. Did they lay the resin on your property? They should not have surface water from their property pooling against your building. This is a Civil matter. It may be that your House insurance has legal cover and you can get a solicitor to send a letter.
  21. That looks like a really crap job. Moving the stops would have worked better.
  22. Christ what the hell do you get up to in Wales?
  23. Filthy swingers bathing in a soup of bodily excretions and skin. They get what they deserve.
  24. I had exactly the same recommendation from a builder I know who does loads of work on rental properties.
  25. My boiler has broken down in the winter before and it was 2 days before anyone noticed. In a modern house it takes a very long time before you feel cold.
