I am far from an expert, but the judgement seemed to be against the LPA and in favour of the developer. You will need to show that the design is exceptional in design and quality. Originally this was to enable wealthy entitled Tory scum people to build mansions in the countryside, but it seems to have changed a bit. The are lots of Grand Designs type schemes but some are fairly pedestrian.

You can specify less bounce either bigger beams or blocks sideways.

Normally they go in before.

Probably just somehow came up in your search history.

Good move. Make sure all the loads are securely slung. Ask the operator to check as you lift. You may need a walkie talkie if you can't see the operator. Maybe just call his mobile. Bet you wish you hadn't dragged the other string round one your own!

The small spider cranes are only 600mm wide and run on tracks. https://www.uniccranes.com/spider-cranes/urw-094/

New build floorplans - opinions welcome
Mr Punter replied to Indy's topic in New House & Self Build Design
I have to say I much prefer the design from @ETC. Loads more light coming in to the core of the house. Grandparents suite no longer off a corridor. Wraparound garden at the back. The plot does not really lend itself to a double fronted house as it is only about 11m wide. Food for thought. -
That one will be trickier as you don't have the wall there. This is not a job for one person without lifting gear. Can you get a spider crane in there?
-
Historical use may help a bit but without a building there you are almost starting from scratch.

The sink instructions have belt and braces approach, with a structural unit under plus mastic plus perimeter brackets resined into the underside of the worktop. On site I mostly see mastic only!

Is this drop in or undermount? 1000mm sounds excessive. Can you post up the spec / install instructions?

In a very well insulated house you only need a very small temperature difference between the slab and target room temperature. The worse the insulation / airtightness, the greater the required temperature difference. If the issue is with poor below slab insulation, you may do better adding some panel heaters. What age is the house?

Neighbours resin drive attached to our property
Mr Punter replied to Becks1974's topic in Party Wall & Property Legal Issues
This is not a Party Wall matter. Did they lay the resin on your property? They should not have surface water from their property pooling against your building. This is a Civil matter. It may be that your House insurance has legal cover and you can get a solicitor to send a letter. -
That looks like a really crap job. Moving the stops would have worked better.

Christ what the hell do you get up to in Wales? -

I had exactly the same recommendation from a builder I know who does loads of work on rental properties.

My boiler has broken down in the winter before and it was 2 days before anyone noticed. In a modern house it takes a very long time before you feel cold.

That is a huge step up in floor space. Have you costed it? -
DPC above wall plate on parapet
Mr Punter replied to McCracken's topic in Bricklaying, Blockwork & Mortar
It would be nice to have a coping on the parapet with an overhang both sides and a fall towards the valley. -
I got planning on a site in zone 3a. It was town centre and needed redeveloping. If it was out of town we probably would have got nowhere. Zone 2 should be fine, just a few extra fees.

I just met with someone and they have spent £250k on a planning application for 50 dwellings.

You could tack on some hardboard of you are that bothered. -
Like a lamb to the slaughter... I have put in some CAT 5 cabling here and in other developments. It only gets used by a few purchasers. I have had a Lutron dimmer switch which was OK. I have some SONOS stuff for audio but the firm seem quite scammy. I am never quite sure what I want to automate.
