nod replied to James Frome's topic in Costing & Estimating
Shop around So many sellers are taking advantage of the situation Ive been in the building trade for 40 plus years and have never known such a massive difference in prices for the same products I had quotes varying by 60% for steel beams Shop around -
It will go a long way Probably worth doing a couple of trial mixes till you get the colour you want Use Something small like a cup Four cups of sand etc Dont use a plastersizer The lime will aerate the fix

With Fracking set to restart Fazing gas out of new builds looks like window dressing We will probably be told that the new gas will be for commercial use But in reality Fossil fuel will be generating the power for our so called greener heat pumps for years to come

Patio/pathway porcelain tiles - best grout?
nod replied to Happy Valley's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
Hi I always use Mapei grout Many years ago before flexi adhesive Grout was mixed as a watery slurry Poured on and spread all over the tiles This would fill any voids under the tiles I still do this with exterior tiles Dont forget to seal the back of EVERY tile Porcelain is hard wearing and will last -

nod replied to Keymon's topic in Building Regulations
Many companies use a private building control Siting that local Authority Building Control are a pain in the Arse (Code for thorough) For a few hundred pounds you can bring in your own BC Call your local planning office Give them your planning number and arrange a visit This will P your contractor off But it sounds like your past this point already- 4 replies
