ahhh, but how much do the firing pieces actually add? without the other bits to make them work e.g the green goo why would a formed metal spacer make any difference? has anyone got a picture of this set up?

unless they put a sound deadening gap between the p,board and the joist like rubber it sounds like snake oil to me, I just can't see it working, why not just put the rubber on the joist? whatever they do the sound can still get through the screw....... i also have never had an issue with noise between floors. which direction is it that people have a problem with? party below while trying to sleep? or beds creaking when trying to watch a film? on the insulation though anything will help if it fills the "echoing" space between the ceiling and the floor above. even crunched up newspaper would help decrease the transfer of sound. personally i am just going for carpet upstairs.

You can only go on what you are advised to do at the time, My money says you will be fine and the house will probably outlast the grandchildren, But as you said all that matters at this moment in time is being able to get it signed off by BC so you can get on with living in it. worst comes to worst there are always remedies,

thats a biggen then have you got 3 phase? reducing the width to 300mm would open a lot more options, but if you want 360mm then we will start having to look at proper machines

personally i am planning to leave a gap and tile outside the shower so that there are no moving parts but i imagine most of your design has already been set so i assume that is of little use, only thing i can say is that in my limited experience of fitting shower enclosures i have found that the hardware doesnt really change, the only thing that changes is the size of gasket used between the frame and the glass. most of the screens i have fitted will come with 2 sets, one for 8mm glass and another for 10mm glass, i assume this will be similar between 6 and 8mm, other people will probably know better but to get better hardware i recon you need to get a better brand, not just upgrade the glass. The final adjustment of the doors is the last thing I do so I wouldn't be surprised if they have left it for their return. The damaged doors need to be replaced either by the supplier or the fitter depending when it got damaged. Touch up might not be that bad. And TBF you might as well let them try that first as it will be quicker. As for the 900 wall units. You will also need to get higher larder units otherwise the new 900s will stick out the top. It is the larder units that set the height of the wall units so unless you were very clear that you wanted them all taller that one may be harder to argue. Corner units are fairly easy to adjust so that one should be an easy fix. Hth Ed

use an old sofa cushion under the ladder. £240 for a1.6m ladder it might be useful for actually tiling the roof but i don't think i would use it for repairs
