  1. possibly the best technical drawing I have seen only thing i would suggest is making the tool shed bigger.... e.g big enough for the bikes and then keep the tools in the big shed
  2. because the women like to moan about it
  3. woah woah woah there guys, we will have no sexism around here! It is clearly a job for any person of any race, sex or belief that fancies being a professional PITA
  4. lol. i was starting to worry the Hippies had actually taken control i suppose as a small silver lining they did at least find something, and another thing to moan about for the next few years is always a great source of conversation........
  5. I'm still struggling to understand this 1950 bit. can you please just clarify that was not a typo?
  6. put it on free cycle you never know......
  7. I've never heard that one, I assume these would be organic crops?
  8. hang on, did you really mean 1950? we were digging through a roman wall not looking for it, actually pulling footings right through it, It got documented and everyone got on with their lives. I have still got a little bit of it somewhere, ill dig it out......again
  9. my plan is for a circle of grass in the middle, then attach a self propelled mower to a steak in the middle via a rope. i should be able to get the fuel right by the 3rd or 4th attempt ...........and i am being quite serious
  10. let em do it with their big machines in the big mills i say, as long as we work from the same sheet to start with its OK, its when the subbies turn up with a bunch of CLS that the issues start.
  11. lol, we had an archaeologist oversee one of our digs before. and in fairness he was OK, he stopped us twice to take some measurements and do a few diagrams but other than that he was good for the crack, "more of the samien old sh*t" then again I wasn't paying his bill
  12. have you considered buying a mini digger?
  13. Because you can only take off so much at a time, and although it would be all nice and regularised i couldn't afford the time to pass every length of wood we buy through a machine 3-4times before i even start to use it. what would be nice is if "regularised timber" all came at the same size (they're close but they're not all the same) because saw blades, especially bandsaws, can wander a lot more than a thicknesser, also it helps to stop flakes or splinters getting dislodged while boarding. I have plasterboarded over rough sawn timber before and the amount of times i had to remove a splinter that was causing a lump was getting beyond a joke, I like regularised timber but it would be nice if they made it a bit more "regular"
  14. We toyed with the idea of raising a couple of calves for the wedding, then came the legislation for keeping a couple of cows as pets I'm afraid there won't be any cows or puppies coming to the construction channel soon........roof bound or otherwise
  15. see Barney understands
  16. don't be ridiculous. I did buy her some flowers but that was a while ago now
  17. She always blows things out of proportion. I was merely filming her dramatic entrance
  18. it didn't, but they're working imperial. at 16" or 2' centres PITA really as I think its only the Americans that still build in imperial I built my entire barn at 16" centres because of this. I decided plasterboard was quicker to cut than OSB and the decision was made. all because the local BM stocks 8x4 sheets of OSB!
  19. OSB is the worst culprit for this, plasterboard has gone metric and so has most other sheeting like MDF or hard faced ply. the stockist must be to blame, if they stopped ordering 8x4s the manufacturer might take the hint...?
  20. let's see how this works then edit: that is awesome, just copy the link and it comes up
  21. Hey Dean, I had bacon and black pudding this morning, But i didn't film it this time.... How is Graven Hill coming for you, Any gripping new revelations i might not have heard about? Ed
  22. i usually carry a spare gas in my front pocket, keeps it nice and warm and is a convenient shape to cause an illusion
  23. I'm Ed, I'm renovating an old red brick cow shed in north west essex, and for some unknown reason i decided to film it all and try to make it all into entertaining videos to upload to youtube, my advice would be to either do the building or the filming, but not both by yourself, it's just madness I tell ya, MADNESS
  24. I'm in NW essex just south of Cambridge. I am very slowly trying to convert/renovate an old red brick cow shed into what will eventually be a house for Faye and myself. I'm not going to bang on about it here, if you would like to find out more please feel free to watch the selection of incredibly entertaining videos i have made for you about it at https://www.youtube.com/user/TConstructionChannel and when you have finished the entertaining ones feel free to carry on to the other 95% of them Ed
