  1. Might be a cunning plan. I wish you a smoother journey than my own
  2. You don't understand the hardship these "hoops" have caused If you want to move the footprint you are looking at a "new build" unfortunately. The only reason I am "getting away with" PD ATM, is because I am currently converting an agricultural building into another commercial building. You can label it as a holiday let or accommodation for a birthing nurse if you like but it has to remain a "conversion" otherwise I would be in no better position as a guy trying to build in a field. To to be a conversion afaik you have to leave the "majority" of the building in tact. Now this is the sticky part. I am including the party wall as part of my walls. Therefore I still have 2 out of 4 walls standing. And I am fully aware if the planners want to cause me trouble I could easily end up with a very expensive shed I can't live in. If you want to move the entire footprint I seriously doubt you will have any chance of PD hth Ed
  3. unfortunately Barney isn't wrong, removing those spindles without damaging them is unlikely to be an easy task. removing the top handrail may be doable without causing too much damage but you will more than likely have to cut the tenon off to avoid snapping the newel. the lower hand rail is similarly awkward because of the way it is cut over the above string, is anyone living in the house?, if not i would seriously consider sand blasting them HTH Ed
  4. Well I missed the party on this one. But I would also go for the 90l electric belle. edit:when i say 90l i mean mix capacity, usually about 130l drum but i think thats what most of them are,
  5. Realistically you will get about 1 1/4 in the stud by the time you have buried the head a bit. And as the first set of battens have already been fixed you only technically need to fix to those. I wouldn't be worried only useing 100s for this. It's not exactly taking a lot of weight anyway.
  6. 150s seem a bit excessive to me. How did you fix the 25x50 battens?
  7. but on the topic of hard core for heavy use drive ways. i would probably go for 6-8" of 4" and down then 2-4" of 40mm-dust on top of that,
  8. thats brilliant, hmm i need to power my new crusher??? ill use the drive shaft of my old lorry. hmmm its still not high enough,,,,,,,,,,,I know ill park it on top of and old digger bucket and an RSJ laid across a skip. perfect
  9. ahh, obvious really, and for some strange reason you keep eating the bloody things,
  10. it does seem that way. we all make mistakes, its how you deal with them that makes the difference
  11. well now i want to know who is selling it AND what the M word is
  12. iv been here before, you should be fine if the spindle is 100+mm from the edge of the door, are there any rules about locks on bedroom doors? is it a new build?
  13. the only place you will get a knob on that door is in the mid rail, even if you do use the surface mounted (rim lock) there is nothing wrong with doing this really, only issues are they can seem a bit low, and it "technically" will weaken that joint in the door (not enough to worry about AFAIC) I personally dislike Knobs for a whole host of reasons, this not being a major one, But if that is the style you would like there is no point me trying to dissuade you. One thing to note is if they are on actual fire doors with the massively oversized door stops make sure you get the REALLY long latches (or longer rim locks) HTH Ed
  14. their not, and the removal lorries have been booked........... Its gone 5, Ill worry about it in the morning..........Im almost looking forward to what the electrician is going to say when i ring him
  15. metro's so i assume so, ill see if i can have a go tomorrow, I had a delightful end to today discussing all the things the customer would like to change................with 3 weeks left on the build
  16. Iv got a box of tiles on site right now. Maybe I'll give it a go when the tiler has finished. ?
  17. Right you heathens, No more talking about work platforms here!! if you would like to continue discussing work platforms please use the appropriately named thread If I see even the slightest of mention anything that could be used to work higher than you can reach, I will punish you accordingly, consider yourselves moderated
  18. you will also need one of these
  19. http://roboreel.com/water-hose-reel/overview/ this one even needs a battery
  20. Tell him to stop buying the cheap diamond bits. Iv been useing the same one for probably 2 years now without a problem. The brand has worn off it now. But it was one of the thicker walled ones with wax in the Center. (6mm)
  21. Your all mad. A standard masonry bit. Not on hammer will be fine. Ct1 and some duct tape. Job done.
