  1. How much difference will this make in the real world?
  2. Must be demotivating - clear progress is visible but just when you want to kick on you've got to call a halt. Hope you get plenty of work so you can start again. cc
  3. update. Rang BC today - they are happy with the ug soil pipe above ground as long as its in darkness. Good news. So after a trip to a BM this is what I did tonight. View from below. Falls from left to right. Solids should scoot past the y branch....... Need to drill & install a 40mm boss for the shower & bath. Also tweaked the other soil run:- Solids should run along this with no issues - and I will pop a boss in for the shower & basin. Time to move on with other jobs now. CC

Do you know anyone who can weld? Local college looking for a project? Local mechanic looking for a weekend cash generator?
  5. We did 2yrs and have renewed our 2nd annual extension. Total insurance spend soon adds up.
  6. Starving people will replace the panels with food crops eventually.......
  7. Thanks Nick for comments, I will ring BC tomorrow and ask regarding the UG fittings, if he's not happy I will change them to the black ones. Got another idea regarding the set up. If I put a y branch horizontally after the basin branch, the straight on section will go to the wc via a 90 bend so solids will just continue straight on, the 45deg off the y branch will continue past the wc (so two parallel pipes for a bit) and the go up to the aav. This should be a lot better I think. What do you think?
  8. We had to buy extensions for ours as a result of the amount of floor insulation we used. Worked ok.
  9. The plumber said they are ok as long as they are in darkness. I am using surplus fittings from another project, I wouldnt buy them to do an above ground otherwise.
  10. Right took camera with me today - first pic: The plan was to continue the run on the right in 110 but I'm now planning to put one of these in http://www.drainageshop.co.uk/110mm-pushfit-soil/DSPS423BL.html?kw=pla-119378095923+c&fl=1000&ci=71690518323&network=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIg83c8fjc1wIVaLvtCh03OgesEAQYBCABEgLLQfD_BwE the 40mm pipe then continues onto a basin and shower. I could replace the branch with a bend & put a 40mm boss into the straight run (I would need to change the pipe to black - I don't think the brown takes glue very well.) This will all be covered so I'm not worried about not using black fittings (just using up some of my existing spares). The rising soil pipe continues above and ends in an AAV. The second pic is another run. It falls left to right. Far left is the AAV, next the toilet & then the basin. Plumber was happy with this. The plan is to use 40mm bosses to connect the shower & bath to this run. I'd welcome any comments. Not much to show for a weekends work really (I did spend a few hours sorting stuff out for the plumber - who was starting the tank (bought with the Build hub bulk order) / boiler install). He'd not heard of a Hotun - which I want to use - I will ring them tomorrow to check its certification but when I looked on their web site it did seem to suggest they can be used. Loading pics was easier than I thought......
  11. Had a plumber on site today...... What I've done & he seemed happy with it, is to put a branch fitting in - 110mm then goes to the toilet and then the plan is to continue straight on using 40mm pipe - fitting going into the 110mm pipe. I will take a pic tomorrow. I could do what Nick suggests - are those short bosses glued onto the black 110mm? Pictures tomorrow will help you all see what I'm up to and clarify the position. CC
  12. We are doing EXACTLY the same. Reclaimed railway sleepers is the only option, rest just rot within a few years. What are you using to hold the sleepers?
  13. Will have another think about this tomorrow, I will take a camera as well.... Work in progress.......
  14. Evening all. Doing some 1st fit plumbing at the minute and the current task is to add a toilet to a run of soil pipe in the first floor joists. The pipe falls right to left, with a shower and basin on the right and the plan is to add the toilet between theses and where the pipe then goes dow into the ground floor on the left. I am now concerned that the jobbies may linger at the new joint and eventually cause problems.... Is this a fair concern? I have a feeling that the jobbies ought to be going in the general direction before they join the pipe - just to make sure they keep going in the right direction. I worry about things like this. Fall is 1:40. Any observations / help gratefully received. Thanks CC
  15. That garden area will look good when the borders fill out..... It will be good to see the final finishes going in. Keep at it!
  16. Fast and furious are also cheap on repairs and good for small venues. Way to go! Thanks to all for the help on the thermostat query
  17. So something like this https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/round-2-core-05mm-pvc-flex-3a-2182y-hank-black-5m-a55tl should do the job?
  18. Got a few tbh. Current fav is a carisma gtb - indoors on carpet its fantastic. Next summer will get the balance between house and racing sorted and brush off the b44. You've got some big boys toys there, those 1/8ths must go like stink.... Thank god for lipo's. Anyway back on topic - any suggestions regarding wire to extend the sensor? ??
  19. Thanks Nick - after many years doing rc buggy's soldering should not be a prob - what wire would you use to extend them with? Does extending them alter their accuracy? Increase time lag?
  20. Evening all, Just 1st fixing electrics - moved onto bathrooms & for these I've got some of these: https://www.wundatrade.co.uk/shop/home/accessories/electrics-2/touchscreen-thermostat-combo/ The supplied probe is 3m long - is it possible to extend these? If so, what impact would it have on the readings? If its not possible to extend then then I need to rethink the location of the thermostat - which I'd rather not do. Any help / advice gratefully received. Thanks
  21. I left Essex 7 years ago - Chelmsford was 3 miles to our East. The Suffolk / Essex border has some beautiful countryside. Good luck with that build.
  22. Thanks all. I found a friends son who unexpectedly does this for a living - I've left him to it. One query I thought of today - do the wardrobe doors have to be the same height as normal door? Lot of wasted space above them. Will have a google larer on.
  23. Often awake at this time now - I'm thinking its getting older along with too much on my plate, the latter more than the former at the minute. I'm looking forward to finishing this build - but thats months or maybe a year away unfortunately. Sleep never used to be a problem.
  24. Hi @Ferdinand, these are cupboard doors; but if they werent then I agree with you, our existing house has a pair of doors this width and they are a pain.
  25. Very impressive for the price, especially considering timescales. Well done.
