    Remember that this will be England only. I will be interested to see what they come up with. Gove is a genuine reformer, and has done things in every department - personally I regret that he did not get a chance to continue with prison reform. F

    Devolved? And even though Direct Rule is in place that would presumably be the NI office rather than DoE. The NI Office is probably in a Brexit Border haze at present, perhaps ?. Bigger fish?

    LI see that Mr Gove is proposing an expansion of National Parks. The policy group is lead by one Julian Glover, who I think is a former Cameron assistant. This area is I think devolved so probably England only, and it seems to be related to turning AONBs into NPs. To my eye the big change will be a regionalisation of Planning Policy in the hands of NPs (small c conservative Nimbys?) away from local councils. I think it will affect middle england Cotswolds, Bucks etc, as the non-urban peripheries / North have National Parks coming out of our ears already. Currently NPs are iirc about 10% of England and AONBs 20%. What will the impact be? How does dealing with an NP compare to an LA? I expect this will be on Countryfile this Evening.     Can you render the copings, or use distinctive materials such as coloured half moon engineering or glazed bricks, or something that looks sharper such as slate slabs or porcelain tiles?

    Use one of those Thin Film renders? Or Perhaps get shares in Sandtex I have seen rendered walls with pantile etc tops.

    I didn't build this, but some things are good. Most satisfying points are probably the location, finishes, and the excellent design given that it is the wrong way round (back to North). But the shower cubicle gets people talking, and is enjoyable. Gas on right, electric on left. Always have a chair in a shower. My favourite current item is probably the Bear-Fridge. ("Lee-Bear"). The un-wow thing is the out of line doors in the utility room. F

    I think an incinerator may be a little small if it is a serious hedge ?. Perhaps a metal cage pallet. Well away from anything combustible. Perhaps a bit pre soaked in white spirit not diesel for less smoke though others may differ. Have the stuff ready to add. Light with newspapers and dry fresh wood offcuts under a part of the pile with dry stuff on the upwind side. A garden fork to keep pushing stuff towards the centre. A hose handy just in case. A spade to beat out any stray flame fronts. Non combustible clothes, and perhaps a hat to avoid hair issues. Duffle coats are good. And some roast potatoes in the middle. In a biscuit tin. A bit of plastic may help it start. Just check your la notes on the website in case you have any flappy neighbours. And coffee or beer. And enjoy.

    Not sure why computer programmers are considered fit to make tea... it’s a skilled job, you know? The trick with snowdrops is to wait for spring and notice where they are growing ?.

    I listened to a R4 Today Programme interview on this report with the author, before it was released, last Thursday. The today interviewer spent the entire interviewer obsessed with getting an admission that “combustible” materials should be banned. Dame whatever wanted to have a serious conversation. Reminds me why I now listen to R5. At least they do not pretend that they are trying to be serious.     If it’s a collared dove you can shoot it provided you can prove damage to crops. Or make like Cromwell and use a pike. if the head stays embedded in a rafter you get instant tradition.

    I love that the instructions are only available in French. Can anyone price a new equivalent from the mainstream? Would about 10k be right new for one without the tracks that narrow to get through a door? F

    OK. Having done the bathroom Objoke, what do we think of this digger? In my terms it is a micro digger not a mini, being 640kg all up, 85cm wide and a fuel tank size of 0.8 of a gallon with a 5.5hp engine? Is 4900 Euro = 4250 ukp a good value price for the built up version? By adding a couple of k you can get things like a 9.5hp engine and various shovels and augers. Useful for those developing a large garden as a general tool? F

    @dpmiller I think the obscured bathroom window is a little cruel. No view for you from the bath, then, unless you have a Camera Obscura in a black shower cubicle ! I thought you were in the back of beyond with one neighbour and the wild animals. Are they concerned that you will traumatise the squirrels? Will you? Perhaps removable-later obscuring film is called for. F

    So the person needs to run and keep up with it ?. We have a chappie who walks 2 dalmations every morning, and one of them thinks it is a husky because it howls at ambulance sirens and police cars and reversing lorries. Great fun. District hospital is just around the corner :-). Need to look out the Hornit for the bike.. F

    As someone who has regular bop measurements, there has been a noticeable move back to traditional pump bulb over tech pump methods for measuring bp amongst practitioners.
