  1. Piling costs are reasonable but the ground beam costs are insane atm.
  2. I’m sure it will be fine. Don’t suppose for a minute they’ll put in writing “MDF Floor is fine”.
  3. My short answer is because, just no. I guess the proper answer is it’s not a structural material for floors- but you know this or wouldn’t be asking
  4. Neff are nowhere near the quality they used to be.
  5. It’s not ok. Chipboard flooring or ply.
  6. Have you grouted it? am I right in thinking this is an outside raised patio/deck?
  7. Sounds awesome- any pics of the house?
  8. Still not discharged, and it would take them 5 minutes. Shambles.
  9. I’ve used those lights before- they’re good
  10. That’s what we do in loft conversions:)
  11. That’s how I see it. How would you fix the membrane?
  12. Thanks! for whatever reason I find the entire solar type stuff mind boggling.
  13. yup I wouldn’t touch lightweight blocks, would have to be concrete block internal skins.
  14. It depends for me on how in depth the design is and cost? If it’s a modest sum and a case of “I have looked at your plans and insulation, I suggest X panels, X cylinder and X heat pump” then it’s great, without getting bogged down.
  15. this was my issue on the solar thread. I want my entire set up to be the best possible and work together, but the ‘design’ comes from the salesman and that seems dicey?
  16. I actually have a new oil boiler in storage and a tank, I’m wondering how insane it would be to have air source and solar on my new build but also utilise the oil set up I have in storage?
  17. the state of the brickwork, I nearly fell off the sofa ?
  18. “you weren’t there man” Yup- I knew....I just knew it was tits up but worked until 7pm Saturday....but I knew. sheet piles. pumps. the horror.
  19. I’m not kidding either ? it had surfaced by about 1.5m when I pulled up on Monday. Felt like crying but it was proper funny!
  20. I had my reservations but didn’t want to void the warranty. Turns out it doesn’t - so it’ll be filled with water and lean mixed backfilled as usual. I had it half full 2400 litres, their spec is 1/3 full 1600 litres. Gravel bed, shingle backfill- maybe 16t in all.
  21. Yep sorted now- tried the dry install they recommend and a complete waste of time and materials. Contacted them and they’re fine with a concrete install “It’s just not in the literature because it’s German”. the tank popped up like a U boat.
  22. Ffs did This at the weekend. A Graf sewage plant- ignore the instructions it CAN be wet installed in concrete. I had an absolute fail with sheet piles and a 5 ton digger.
  23. So- is there such a thing as a designer who will sort your system for a fee?
  24. it’s flat and exposed around this bit of it- any kind of heat and it’s like working in Nevada.
