They can’t be arsed so want the easy option. some timber wedged in the web of the beam. Fine for the national housebuilders….

Weld metal plates, drill and tap to suit would be my choice.

Do you have the engineer code to access to alter these features?

PV on a flat roof, how far from the edge?
TonyT replied to Smallholder's topic in Photovoltaics (PV)
https://mcscertified.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/MIS-3002_Solar-PV-Systems-V4.0.pdf page 18 looks like 400mm on a pitched roof now unless extra design is in place to prevent uplift -

Use a compressor and blow it through rather than a domestic hoover sucking it… -

Get a ball of string and a plastic bag and a vacuum cleaner. tie string to handle of plastic bag, stuff into duct, go to other end with hoover and suck bag which will pull the string, then pull a blue rope through for cable pulling. -
ASHP, how to decide - I just don't get it!

I know I bought the book last year, and contributed to the author for his efforts -
Might have been better to screw a timber plate to the angled ceiling then fix the vertical timbers and similar wall plate just like making a partition looks a bit thin on substance.

I’m sure the original MCS rules were 200mm from the ridge on a pitched roof. I would be happy with that, lots of new skirtings/architraves now to prevent bird nesting imagine that will help with uplift -

You will need a structural engineer’s input to get sign off for building control purposes -

Make sure the concrete is pokered. I can’t find the info, but sure it increases concrete strength significantly. concrete like smooth chocolate or aero bar chocolate I know which I would prefer for strength

what kind of logs? sufficient weight in these to have a deeper perimeter foundation? I’ve been using c35 a lot for work foundations for special columns with fibre additives to save climbing down a 1 m hole and placing mesh on chairs

Make sure you fit 2 single sockets for the washing machine and dryer and not a double socket
-
If it’s free standing I would allow 605mm internal width for both machines, gives some room for wiggling in and out and some clearance when it goes into Mach 2 spin mode. with appropriate timber support in between, I think 1200mm unsupported worktop is too much

I bought a cheap 600 watt inverter from eBay and connected it to a spare 250 watt panel. inverter lives in an IP box, it comes with a plug and this is plugged into a power meter Excluding panel think it was under £100
