Air bricks - min height off ground?
Oz07 replied to Vijay's topic in Bricklaying, Blockwork & Mortar
What made you concrete under b&b? -
You can disagree and go to the appeal inspector who may be more likely to grant. But if discussions are going the right way no point upsetting the Apple cart as by no means a certainty that inspector will approve.
-
Depending how stretched your council is be prepared to agree a time extension!
-
Also bit of high level glazing in partition between bed and ensuite possibly easy way of getting light into the room
-
Pair of pocket sliders on new dressing area? Gives you option of closed or open without interfering with cupboards or walkways. To be fair would want to be nice doors thought. Wrong doors could make this idea look nasty
-
You sure that meterage is right? 70 boards?
-
Big firms here £3.5 m2 but you'll get a team go and crash it in one day for that and will look crap. Best to get a recommended 1 man band who takes pride in his work and price or day work. No point getting a skim and it looking worse than tape and fill
-
They can plaster to a free edge though. It didn't look bad on the job I was on. All depends on what your spread wants. Got to keep the guy doing the work happy
-
Over thinking. I normally put them in but did a job before Xmas where fitted lining and door same time. Better in some ways as skim dry so no moisture in lining.
-
The thermal box doesn't worry me it's all the balancing and figuring out of systems. @JSHarris makes it sound easy but I wouldn't have a clue where to start!
-
That's a "get lost" quote. Ring a local aggregate supplier
-
I used to live about another 4 hrs north again (so 8). Where will that mean you end up, Newcastle way? Yeh would a skim of bought it flush with that bead? Does look good from a distance, not so sure about 100mm away!
-
looks good. Is your architrave flush with a shadow gap?
-
hmm perhaps the change in level doesn't help in gauging a flat slab but still disappointing. Perhaps MBC should consider self compacting concrete if struggling with skills shortage?
-
Was @JSHarris slab not power floated? From the sounds of it the two latest slabs haven't been? Has this been dropped from the spec or is it an 'extra' within the package? I usually use a self compacting concrete which with not much skill you can get to within 10mm. Dare say tighter tolerance if you spend a little more time and effort on it.

Definitely apply once you own the plot but before you start the build. I found in the past these landers want to be in from the outset regardless of how little you want from them. Once mortgage agreed you may only need the initial valuation or 1 further mid build valuation to enable the LTV to be sufficient to release funds to complete the build.

Couldn't believe how expensive those flat ceiling ones are. Do look good though
-
I'm late to this just read thru. Cracking looking staircase. Whether i'd put 8k into it is another thing but does look the dogs.
-
Surely a lower pitch is more susceptible to uplift. I bet manufacturers don't approve straight bond. I wouldn't be paying
-
Were you forced to have sprinkler system? looking good. Love a screeded first floor feels so solid. Did you get on ok screeding ground floor with the water ?
-
Can I have kudos for my initial advice then!?
-
That was hard work wasn't it
-
I have 20mm of packers taped on an old 800 level and do the same ratio to a 6ft level when I lay drains. When the bubbles right the fall is good
-
Don't send them an email you might show the bloke up and get his bad side. 1:40 is 25mm in a meter. 1:80 is 12.5mm in a meter. Just do do what I said. Run it at 1:40 and have one steep section between two ic's

The whole point of graded batten is to use as a ladder. Give it an hour you'll get a feel for it
