Alexphd1 commented on AliMcLeod's blog entry in A house! A house! My kingdom for a house!
I think if i was in your shoes, i think i would be squaring off the other half of the basement as using space (larger gym?).... and looking at a raft foundation tied into ICF for the retaining walls. -

We are planning a similar system to mentioned above. Ashp + pv (kw unkown)> 500l thermal store> UFH + DHW. We also plan a 18kw log gasification boiler with another 750l thermal store with 4 solar thermal panels feeding this. The biomass/solar thermal store will have a DHW coil acting as a pre head for ashp cylinder also if biomass cylinder temp rises above ashp cylinder then a pump will automatically come on to transfer heat between the two tanks. I was thinking legionnaires risk could be minimised with DHW heated as needed via a coil rather than stagnant water in a hot water cylinder. I was looking at the stainless steel joule thermal store for the ashp, cheapest I found was in Poland ( kotly.pl.com) . If anybody has better prices, let me know.

Hi, welcome. You are in a good place here! Sounds like you have been through the mill. We are building north of you in Aberdeenshire.

Tbh I am always concerned when two separate products are combined into one for maintance and repair. If it's beyond repair it could be complicated to replace if there isn't a direct replacement.

Never changed a vaillant to lpg but changed other boilers. What exactly do you mean by new jets? Last one we changed was a worcester (few years ago now), it was a chip in the main pcb but it was a rite pita to set up. If ur sparkie is gas safe and has the correct equipment then fine but if not I think I would pay vaillant for a engineer. Just had a quick look at kit it does look like a jet. Sorry.

First off check the prv. If you do use leak sealer when you dose/add it to the system make sure that system is cold (radiators and not running hother water)..... don't ask me how I know this??

Much appreciated, it's reassuring to get a second opinion. I did get a wee bit off the price and a vat receipt.

i pulled the trigger and bought a few of these last night, I know it's a bit late now but I am just looking for a second opinion. Please don't tell me I have bought a white elephant! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282368797013?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Depending on what you are building but I don't know if eps70 will carry enough load, we have a mix of eps100 & 300. Maybe I am talking rubbish but was their not something about PIR insulation soaking up water and lowering the u value?
-
That's strange. Quoted at 86% efficient so not far off the smaller domestic ones.

@le-cerveau bpc ventilation are selling the larger mitsubishi units on their eBay page. I think 850 and 1000m3 units they are advertising. Very competitive price aswell.

Ebay.com . Biggest problem is finding sellers who ship to UK . Remember you will get hit with UK import tax but there is decent savings to be made. It's the dewalt DCF620 auto feed screw .
-
Already been mentioned , but big bonus point with having a common battery with other tools. I'm already eyeing up the 2nd fix nailer plus the auto feed screw driver . American ebay?
