  1. Tbh I never considered what to do next after working out heat loss.... I just worked out v rough heat loss then added on a few kw for hot water allowance for looking for a inverter heat pump. We installed ufh at 200mm centres with the long term plan of trial and error with lowering the ufh temp as low as possible and still heat/maintain room temps.
  2. We pulled through approx 20m with a 45 degree corner in middle. Nothing major. Also take a few photos/videos before back filling and when back filling to start with. Just a little insurance policy incase they ask questions when pulling through cable at a later date.
  3. Sorry @Onoff never read your link. I also believe they make fridges for John Lewis own brand. Probably already covered that in link ? I would check your avios account and switch any balance over to your BA avios account to be safe. I think 5 months left of the avios before stopped.
  4. Does liebherr not also make fridges for miele? Remember avios points 3 for every £1 at appliance city (plus your credit card points if using avios credit card) !!
  5. Interesting about return temp been low. Every day is a school day.
  6. I think overheating in the NE of Scotland will be a nice novelty initially....
  7. I didn't bother. If it was something that I could do myself then probably may consider playing about with it, if I had to pay somebody to do it then no. For heating I have just copied what people have already done with sucsess on here fine tuned for my own personal needs/finances.
  8. Sorry I typed that sounding as i have bought it but I am put together a diy effort from bes and eBay.
  9. The kingspan ashp installation kit came with a adjustable flow meter for setting her up.
  10. I am embarrassed to say I was one of those who employed a archiectect on percent of HIS projected build cost.... before I found ebuild and buildhub I was naive to all this. There was a guy on grand designs once who built a metal shoebox shaped building with a sliding roof on a sliver of land in London who submitted his build warrant drawings during the build. I don't think it's worth it as the end of the day I believe you would still need to pay and submit drawings but if anything wrong you are way astearn in time and money.
  11. You could look for a cheap indirect solar cylinder and pipe both coils together??
  12. I am afraid telford is not the only cylinder manufacturer that charge a premium for a heat pump cylinder. Albion, range, santon all aswell. At the end of the day its probably only a extra ten linear meter of DN 20 stainless flexible pipe in the coil length....
  13. I have never seen cement board used in a roof, everyday is a school day!
  14. UFH pipe is pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things, why not install pipe and cover your bases for future. You could always run a UPS back up system which would keep the heating/ufh running in a power cut.
  15. Sorry I like my current gas. I would have gone for a nice big single gas wok burner and a 12kw system boiler probably with pv and a sunamp in new build
  16. Sorry I can't help but we have had a few issues aswell with our windows. Very frustrating hopefully be sorted out shortly.
  17. I have asked myself a similar question hundreds of times!!! By the time you get enough insulation/air tight in your property for very little heating in bedrooms etc even a smallest log boiler overheats the room. A log boiler does create a nice center peace.
  18. I think Dave nails it pretty much. For me low mantaince material was also important. Aluclad windows. Stainless roof and gutters.
  19. Regarding the magnetic filter I would leave it in. A few ashp installation kits from manufacturers come with a magnetic filter. Good point with ashp coil/heat exchanger to cut antifreeze/inhibitor!
  20. I stepped into that one.....
  21. Look v similar.
  22. @Nickfromwales Tidy with the hep fittings but v expensive. Have a look at antares international a European based supplier very strict trade only though. Have not bought anything from them for ages and got a catalogue through door a few weeks ago.
  23. £30k for a 5kw that's a bit (lot!!) more than I was expecting! I don't know if we are comparing like for like but 20% is more than PV efficiency, or am I way off the mark? I actually like the look of big turbines but wouldn't want to stay within couple of hundred meteres of one.
  24. Oh I remember seeing the sales poster at a b&q... the sales figures was pretty impressive and the chimney turbine on dragons den to. Always somebody new with a bright idea. I think classing all small wind turbines is pointless is a bit harsh, it's something I would look into if I had the rite ground. A few kw turbine hooked up to a sunamp (not sure exactly on how to do this) could be a handy bit of kit.
