    @Nickfromwales very tidy install! Where did you get the hot/cold manifold from?

    I have went the other way, a cheap manifold with a grundfos pump and branded pipe. Not a big fan on JG speed fit, prefer the old grey hep2o stuff for plumbing, not used either for a few years. We have used 12/16 & 20mm uponor mlcp for our build.

    A bit late but you get single sided icf with eps on one side and ply shuttering other side. Could be ideal for basements.

    On top of beam we shot on with a nail gun. We bought a paslode/spit p370 off eBay nearly new less than 200. Also can be used for shooting nails into concrete. On to the face we hired a magnetic drill.

    What is with heated workshops?? You guys must be soft further south ?? My mate uses a similar sized metal shed for a garage as spoken about in thread and has osb lined 2.4m height internally for airlines etc, also gives the steel a bit of protection for being knocked from inside. Not sure how it is fixed though.

    I know a lot of commercial buildings are built this way, so must be a cost effective way to build but i don't understand if your going to the cost of a steel frame plus the cost to erect why not just steel clad all the way to the ground, it must be cheaper than block work half way up?

    Store 1 makes more sense for tank! My mistake. Makes nice warm press with heat loss aswell.

    Nice project. Oil boilers are 100% heat output or nothing. For this I would I wouldn't be running UFH direct but I have seen it done this way a lot. My choice would be a thermal store (dhw coil not plate heat exchanger) with dhw pump return (design of house). You cam br smart when you control the pump ie when somebody switches on bathroom light pump comes on. Heads up I picked up a new stainless steel 500l thermal store with two coils for £900 Inc vat del of eBay a few weeks ago. He has stiĺl 1 left. Also if going pumped DHW bronze pumps (grundfos) are a lot cheaper off eBay compared to plumb merchants.

    It's been 2 years since a similar question has been asked, so I thought I would start again with a new thread. I have received a quote with recommendations from the quarry for a 2 guy team willing to travel 100 miles to our job. There price was £120m2 plus I pay digs (not a problem I have a b&b). They hope to do between. 6-8m2 on a 11 hour day. Their work (on social media) is very impressive but I can't help feeling a day rate between 700 & 1000 is a bit high esp they local goin rate for two good builder is half that but obviously local guys won't be doing the same m2 per day. The stone is 140mm guilatined sand stone with a pointed finish, quarry is beside Dundee. http://www.abmasonry.co.uk/stone-cladding-house-beauly/ The link above is the stone not the stonemasons.

    Ah I had ideas of a massive wind breaker the length of a house!

    Sorry can't help you for a ideas on how to actually to do this but as jsharris says above I also have concerns with using kwikstage as a wind breaker.

    Our job tomorrow is doing the fascia (slate roof) in aluminum ral 7016 but havent decided on soffit yet. we ended up getting the fascia from kytun but but was expensive. I think i would find local steel fabrication with a bender and buy the RAL colour steel yourself. Probably be a lot cheaper! send a PM over if you want more info price.     If you are keen on a timber frame why not just put on a low mantaince cladding direct on to thw timber frame. Saves putting up block work and finishing it of.

    Why not just use standard 6inch block on its side, that's what we done with a 8x6 garage with a room upstairs and 45 degree slate roof.

    A bit different, we are having stainless valleys between the stainless and slate same material as this house:- http://www.uginox.com/en/node/1319 We have 4x kytun dry verge in slate grey surplus, we ordered same in RAL7016 to match windows so dont need the grey ones now if of any interest?

    paslode and dewalt do, dewalt doesnt use/need gas though. Cant comment on others.

    2x Ashp less than 1k each. 12x solar thermal £900. 24 rolls of roof shield £50 each. Wolf oven warming drawer. Meile extractor. Ufh equipment. Mvhr unit. Endless list all the above was from eBay. Also drainage pipes a lot cheaper from online suppliers.
