  1. better not forget the locking collets on the JG fitting if it's going to be unseen...
  2. depends. ASHP tops the tank up- and catches better half's morning shower- during the E7 period in winter. Currently the PV is diverting to it.
  3. Depends on the standing charge surely?
  4. Fan? if you're savvy electronically, you might open it up and see if you can ascertain the offending board area or component; a blob of silicone might well damp the culprit.
  5. why do you think you need 4-core to a boost switch? It only needs to be a momentary contact closure.
  6. 230kg sounds like an awful lot, is this a Conder with a steel frame underneath? I don't think our Solido would've been over 100kg. We used out 2.7t machine to install it, but there's no way it would've had the reach to lift it off a wagon.
  7. well 70 is already scalding temperature so you should be able to confirm a tempering valve on your hot tank? If so then yes, it's safe.
  8. so during the day they won't notice the light and it will burn needlessly. The corner of a shelf in the hips/ ribs OTOH might just focus the mind...
  9. nope, that's just an overflow tank to catch anything from the safety valve.
  10. Look at LBS Snowdon. Slate-looking clay tile. Great job...
  11. ...but hang on, you say it's a drainback system? Are there any valves that have erroneously been shut off that might be restricting that?
  12. I wouldn't expect it to immediately start doing things if it's already at elevated temperatures. Change the settings and monitor it tomorrow on heat-up.
  13. At 70c you must have a tempering valve on your tank to protect users, so why not just increase store temp to 80c or more? Is this a drainback system? How many sensors are connected? what is the setting for EM, collector limit?
  14. my reply was aimed at @saveasteading, sorry. Have you been charged for the engineer's time, designing the plant in the wrong place?
  15. I'm not talking about in industry or commercial development. Looking at the size of a house to size a treatment plant aint rocket science?
  16. As @JohnMo says, Beam will flog you something in a very retail manner. Personally I went BPC for design and hardware, but acquired the main unit off Ebay and bought everything else from them. I self-installed...
  17. why is a SE speccing something non-structural?
  18. @nod are all the internals in your own house MF?
  19. so given that anyone can at any time add a diverter and start making savings, how does one start- at any time- to receive payment for export with a self-installed non-MCS PV system?
  20. that looks like a bi-metal weld that's failed, or maybe it's even just a swaged and pressed joint and a crack formed at the top of the swage?
  21. if it's oversized a bit you can throttle both flow and pressure. Inefficient yes, but you can do it if you need to.
  22. this. a car will charge off a 13A outside socket...
  23. all our controls and the secondary pump come off a different supply. Even if the ASHP was to expire and need to be isolated, we can heat the whole house either by immersion or boiler stove. Indeed even during a power failure everything bar the immersion can happily run off an inverter if needs be.
