  1. never mind all the SCOP numbers, how many kW is it actually rated for at the temp and flow?
  2. So I've got some nice black limetone slabs that will be used as a hearth. Looking to get at least one coat of sealant on before laying, but does anyone have any recommendations for a really glossy wet-look finish? Thompsons Wet Look paving seal seems like a possibility (supplier-recommended) tho in the past I'd probably have ladled on good old Klear. Any other thoughts? edit: Should add, it's a riven surface, not smooth
  3. what schedule is the heating on? 24/7 or something less?
  4. repurposed routers here. Huawei 4g modem/router covers one end of the house , then an old Talktalk hub does the other, and a Draytek out in the garage. They're all joined together (along with all the house cat5 points) by a dumb switch in the plant room.
  5. respectfully, if you're building YOUR house for YOU to live in, what the hell has the value or brand of kitchen appliances got to do with it?
  6. so remember all that this is NI, we're still on the OLD regs, and check reveals are a must...
  7. an IVAR pump? do they make them themselves or just reprice and rebrand?
  8. well that's exactly the conditions when defrosting will be needed so... How badly frosted-up does it look each time? Is there an external air temp sensor on the back of the unit near the fins that's getting iced-up? Are the external and unit temperatures displayed plausible? Can't say about other brands but the Engineering menu on our CoolEnergy unit will allow sensor calibration, time between defrosts, plus various duration/pressure/temp settings specifically for defrost. Our environment sounds pretty similar to yours and I'd see a defrost about every 40-50 mins worst-case.
  9. ^ you mean it's *often ignored* by HMRC staff
  10. It is. You are polluting unnecessarily. It's only a matter of time before both smoking and non-DPF'd diesels are banned 🙂
  11. @SteamyTea are you a smoker?
  12. but it's not a passageway if it's part of the conservatory?
  13. @Shaun McD you shouldn't have any issues with Kudos, I'd say they're on a par with MBC based on the quotes, spec, and meetings I had back before we began. / we ended up going with Leadon's tho as being the best price vs spec option...
  14. isn't a flush pipe normally 38mm? sounds like your flexy pipe will be loose in the back of the pan surely
  15. Our TF guys had no issues putting the sole plate onto quinnlites.
  16. XPS and EPS are a wee bit different y'know...
  17. do you ever run out of hot water with the tank at 48c? Simple answer is to turn down the thermostat in the immersion heater- when it's sufficiently hot and not taking any power you'll be exporting instead.
  18. maybe elsewhere in the UK it's simple but here? these days? Pah.
  19. was the original leak from the connector, or was the fill valve replaced? Was the supply unable to be isolated during the works? Are you a long way from a plumbing merchants and the bod just went with what he had in the van? Were you pleased to have the leak cured at the time? If you know enough to be unhappy with the work, why didn't you just fix it yourself... /but agree with everyone saying contracts esp with BG and the like are a poor idea.
  20. I treated our bath exactly the same as our shower trays. Batten underneath the edge of the bath, flexible upstand bonded to the edge of the bath, fleece over that and up the corner, then liquid tanking painted onto the whole wall area which was in the wet zone of the attached shower head.
  21. give the guys at Cool Energy a shout and see if any of their installers can assist.
  22. will the stove's air controls not close off airflow? On ours, both levers close their respective vents completely.
