ummm, the Mainsboost is a 200l vessel? I'm guessing they're just being more conservative about the life of the diaphragm. edit: also the *system* has a rating of 3.5bar uplift, so the end volume is variable. The other tank is just talking about it's full capacity I'd think.

If you can build a house, you can certainly take the ten minutes it takes to run a file over a chain. Perfection aint necessary- even if you're just taking the burrs off rather than sharpening as such it'll still improve things...

If you want a pretty direct replacement and aren't concerned about superb thermal properties, look at the Velux VLT or GVK or Fakro WGI, you should find a similar size in those ranges

not all compression fittings have a BSP on the nut, I think they're actually Whit. But more modern stuff could well be metric even, that could be M30x2.5 or somesuch.

can you get a piccy of the threads, and measure the thread pitch?

pack it up off the tiles a touch (toughened glass doesn't like point loads)either with glazing packers or the special clear packers that "disappear" into the sealant. If you use ordinary packers you can remove them and fill the voids once the main length has gone off.

Are all the fittings you've tried BSP? Might be worth trying an iron BSPT fitting in, it could well go in better and if necessary will massage the thread slightly. I wouldn't risk a tap coz if it actually *is* a different thread you'll possibly scrap it...

Would it be worth knocking the door of one of the other neighbours and asking them how it works for them? Try searching planning docs for the other houses as there might be useful drawings (side porch between 16 and 18, and again 30 and 32 for example
