  1. Going to throw it in the mix as it may suit both of us....I have some left over tiles from my project that look a pretty similar grey. They re 900 x 900 made by Living Ceramics in Spain, and I ve had 300m2 of them laid and no issues with being unlevel. They retail at around £60m2 and I was looking for £20 to get some of my money back. Can send pics if required - will be putting them in the sales part of this forum and then eBay shortly.
  2. Exactly what I did, and taped some outdoor air permeability tape over the joint on the membranes for good measure. Did this for both the render board and timber clad detail.
  3. Why not use some heat transfer paste and a jubilee clip
  4. Thanks all. Will use duct for control cables and bury the swa. It's only a soft dig about 15m so not too bad
  5. Hijacking this thread slightly - can my mains power supply to the gate (swa), intercom wiring (cat 6), and switching cable (probably cat 6 again just to run a volt free contact on the gate panel) all go in the same duct?
  6. I have to say I rarely turn our kitchen extractor on (ricurculation type as I have mvhr). I once felt the need to open the door but that was my cooking more than an issue with anything else.
  7. I had similar on my last place... Red brick house to blue bricks, render, and cladding 3 windows to patio doors 3 velux windows added and all under non material amendment
  8. Not a lot to tell but I ll fill it with rocks so it's a thermal mass bag
  9. I took that picture this afternoon so it probably is
  10. For that leather bag on the left? Yes that's fine, what's your address - I ll get it out tomorrow
  11. This is thermal mass.... 400kg of soapstone in the top of it, weighs 700kg in total....
  12. Yes - maybe I should do a video tour of the showroom for buildhub members!
  13. Thanks. I tackled it with a brush and some soapy water and its got 99 percent of it gone. There are a couple of areas where it has a couple of small "splats" - these seem to come off with a sharpe pointy knife but I need to spend some more time on these bits.
  14. This Hwam stove at £500 plus vat has to be discount offer of the week. Original retail would have been about £3.5k. Admin - shoot me if I m not allowed to post this but it will be on eBay shortly so though first dabs here....
  15. My patio slab has just been poured and despite the render being covered, a couple of splashes of concrete found its way onto the render (k-rend). Does anyone have any experience of removing concrete from render. My first thoughts are try and "pick" it off with a sharp knife. K-rend support said they are aware of people using brick acid but they have never tested it themselves and I personally did nt fancy risking it.
  16. Maybe, but you d still in effect be subsiding the fuel, it would just be dressed up in a different way. I d be interested to see what pulling subsidies and taxing emissions does to the various fuels if anyone has the time or inclination to model it.
  17. Would be interesting to see the affect of that one on each fuel. I m guessing it would put a lot more people into fuel poverty.
  18. Any tips on this one Jeremy - we ve been on a month but the council still have nt sorted out its council tax band. They say it's due from the day we moved in but wondered if there is any grey area?
  19. The issue with many smoke control approved stoves are that they are often just the normal stove that has some kind of stop mechanism to avoid the air inlet being shut off to far. As you can imagine, a lot of people don't bother fitting these or take them off after installation so they can turn the stove down more.

    Armoured cable?

Many thanks for al your input on this. I had the armoured cable and ducting so (for this element at least) I would put the armoured cable into the duct. However, looking at the cable, it looks a bit of a pig to work with. Therefore my next question, I have a couple of patio up lights that will most likely be 12/24v - therefore can I use a non armoured but outdoor cable for this element (still ducted)?
  21. I used Reynaers in the end for mine - lots of large sliding doors (largest being 10m) and a 3.4 x 1.2 flat roof light.
  22. I went as for as getting a quote and then went elsewhere
  23. Can anyone tell me if I still need to use armoured cable for outdoor lighting if it's going in a duct? Seems expensive overkill to me? On a similar note, if I m using armoured cable, can I install it without a duct? lighting will be mains voltage.
  24. I m with you on the tightness - on mine it cost £400 for the crane (I had to hire it for the full day). I did use it to lift a skylight and the solar panels onto both properties.
