  1. use a rest bend at the head of the run and a swept T (not a normal T) for the second one.
  2. https://www.screwfix.com/c/screws-nails-fixings/self-drilling-screws/cat840204
  3. you could not have the top flasing but it wont look very good as there is no support to kick the tiles up so they wouldnt line up with the tiles either side. Definitely need side flashing though.
  4. non standard construction = £££££££
  5. from some of the appeals ive read, non determination is not a bad route. The inspector forces the council to respond to the application. Can also ask for costs.
  6. ring them up and say you can see turds in the ditch. you will have a free onsite visit in under half an hour. Then you can pick their brains....
  7. we all know there are crap builders. Saw next door timber frame being plumbed with window packers under the soul plate. it was still not finished after we moved in. total waste of money for no reason. Lets see how all these cowboys get on with the new regs. No photo's of all the key build elements, geo tagged, to evidence good workmanship. No completion cert. Will be very interesting.
  8. this is how im doing ours to climate the massive cold bridging issue, albeit with permiter upstand as well. Using marmox as the outer skin as they wont be seen (level threshold).
  9. wouldnt worry if its an RSJ on a padstone. That blockwork is rough as feck mind.
  10. table saw all day long. They are cheap as well.
  11. what type of lintel was installed above the bifold ?
  12. just how our 1895 house was built. 4 bricks below ground zero concrete. Heaby clay area and never moved in 120 years, well until i put the 5 tonner though it.
  13. there isnt an issue getting a traditional build airtight. Not saying it isnt easier with stick build but the mega cost and dodgy dealers isnt worth it. Not by a long way.
  14. planning laws brought in to protect buildings built when there we no planning laws.
  15. be very very careful paying up front to a TF company. They tend to go bust eith your money recently. Unless you are planning to move in withing 12 weeks of breaking ground the extra cost of TF is lost.
  16. probably the only statistic you have posted on this site that I would agree with.
  17. starting to feel sorry for this builder. Next will be he's built the extension square and it doesnt match the existing which is a banana. I want money off!
  18. what sort of tiles are on the roof ? Probably quicker and cheaper to just add a bunch of tile vents both sides of the roof.
  19. you cant it would change the plane of the roof if parts of it were higher than others, it has to stay the same. It's all going to be a compromise, lower the pitch a little slot the outside wall for some of the feet to travel through it ?
  20. pumped allways. sod the barrow!
  21. its only as fast as it can goto its yard, refill and come back. But if you cant get readymix then no option really.
  22. ok for small quantity, for footings you want all the cube as fast as possible to the correct mix.
  23. put the roof on square of course, sort the gutter detailing after. leave long tails for example, if they become too low bump height a little by counterbattening. post a picture.
  24. the spray mist aerogell stuff on old housing stock could be a game changer
