  1. flip the toilet so the bog door doesn't open into the kitchen.
  2. grinder and cut a knotch out of 2 blocks so the block still has bearing onto the beam. Sewer pipes need to be haunched at the rest bend so there will be some conc for the cut block to bear on as well.
  3. or just buy a £300 laser and do the same. That kit isnt fitted on little diggers (sub 8 ton), you have to pay someone to CAD the whole thing, GPS setout etc etc massive upfront costs Real world of zero use to a single plot due to the cost. you could pay a man with a digger for a month and still have change.
  4. there really isnt any risk. you send CIL Form 7 Part 1 wait for the reply and crack on. No need for umpteen emails, the official reply to CIL Form 7 Part 1 is all that is required.
  5. equivalent being manufacturer, either way the INSTALL is not MCS dependant and therefore doesn't effect PD. Purely the hardware spec.
  6. just get merchies to quote for pozi's, much better than solid timber. can get services through easy etc BC will want the spec the manufacturer provides same as roof truss calcs
  7. all that i can see is the hardware must be to MCS or EQUIVILENT spec. Nothing about a particular private company having to install it. so no to be clear, PD is not dependent on MCS at all.
  8. we have panasonic fancoil units in the bedrooms, mainly for cooling use. yet to use them as its too hot upstairs already with a flow temp of 25c to the slab. Plate heat exchanger while a bit more money are much more efficient than in tank coils and allows the use of multiple bog standard cheap cylinders.
  9. not legislation, a private company document.
  10. cart before the horse. do heatloss calc to see what you need, correctly sizing is very important for efficiency. https://www.changeplan.co.uk/heat_loss_calculator.php If your build hasnt commenced: Done zone anything. 100mm ufh pipe centres for low flow. marmox blocks first course to delink slab from walls. 150mm cav with dritherm 37 (brickie will thank you) simple mvhr unit to avoid punching holes for erxtractors all over. do that and it will be cheap to run.
  11. hire a push along cutter, less mess and no chance of debris flying up and dinging the cladding. Then a cheap titan breaker from screwfix.
  12. It's pretty straightforwarded but has to be done in order, our CIL officer was really helpful. 1st - send CIL Form 7 Part 1 wait and get a reply 2nd - send CIL Form 6 Commencement Notice finish build and get completion cert 3rd - send CIL Form 7 Part 2
  13. cheapest is definably solar, heat pump and an eddi diverter. As for capital cost, buy a 5k kitchen instead of a 25k kitchen. Same reasoning.
  14. Talk to the largest dealer local to you and give them the whole order for 10% of all your best prices.
  15. nope doesn't say that. Nowhere I could see 'must be installed be MCS etc' Clearly states MCS OR EQUIVILENT STANDARD. Would clearly be illegal if it was the case as it would break anti-competition laws. Cartels are illegal.
  16. we were in same boat, in the end just bought heat pump and cylinder and had plumber fit it. It's not rocket science really only a flow and return. Panasonic unit, plate heat exchanger and couple bog standard 250L cylinders had change from 5K. Took plumber half a day to install, 2 hours for sparky to connect 2 wires and it fired up no drama.
  17. have the myenergy eddi, it has a heatpump mode so when its beneficial for the heat pump to make hot water it lets it otherwise fires up the immersion. very clever.
  18. try this calc instead, much more straightforward to use https://www.changeplan.co.uk/heat_loss_calculator.php
  19. Not aware of any heatpumps that dont comply with MCS standards. Also says OR EQUIVILENT. And mentions nothing about MUST BE INSTALLED by an MCS contractor either. G.1 Development is not permitted by Class G unless the air source heat pump complies with the MCS Planning Standards or equivalent standards.
  20. just get the build QS'd and you will know to the last brick the exact cost.
  21. maybe blind but cant see where it says that anywhere.
  22. not talking about the grant. The statement was MCS was required to comply with permitted development. Calling BS on that.
  23. i did, cant see anything referencing planning is dependant on an MCS certificate ?
  24. got down to -2c last night, still have no loft insulation. Heat pump delta T has dropped to 3. Still running it in direct mode 25c. downstairs is around 18c ambient upstairs 8. Don't think will need anywhere near 35c flow temp once upstairs is insulated and sealed.
  25. probably cost more per m2 than a normal room as they will need more labour as the ealls wont be plumb, boards need cutting, insultion etc etc add 30-40% more per m2 to your existing m2 price.
