Cable in or under slab for kitchen island
Eric replied to Chanmenie's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
I used 32mm hydro duct, cut out of the underside of insulation. -
It’s on order, 375 m2 so it’s expensive, no windows, no stair case etc.
-
My Scotframe kit has gone up by 25% from last year…..
-
Ours are coming from Internorm, 5m sliding, triple glazed.
-
We have carried out the groundwork, we are waiting for the kit to be made. Scotframe closed kit, highly insulated. If we were to do it we would want to go for integrated ones.

Sorry to hijack this thread, I have a new build starting soon & never gave any thought to having solar but times are a changing. @pocster, @Marvin how many solar panels are you talking about for your generation?

Not an expert but is that the correct screws for steel that thick? As above a mag drill will be your friend here. Have seen fixings fired into steel beams through wood with Hilti or equivalent.

Rega Vent MVHR Reviews
Eric replied to bob the builder 2's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Never heard of Rega Vent, I went for a Vent Axia from BPC ventilation & very pleased with it. -
Yes, an excel spreadsheet is what we did, don’t need to provide evidence, but we were realistic with the prices. Get an idea of costs from builders, joiners, plumbers, UFH, kitchen, heat pump etc.

As above just do your own, we did this and no problems ??

We went to one in Edinburgh in 2019, well before covid times & it was really good. The main objective for us was to decide on windows & doors which we did, it’s nice to be able to compare different makes in one place.

MVHR - Which unit?
Eric replied to richo106's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I fitted a Vent Axia sentinel in 2020 & very pleased with it. -
Semi-rigid Pipe diameter
Eric replied to gavztheouch's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I used 75mm, I thought that was standard size. -
I think it’s fairly normal, we just had to do 700mm wide for timber frame kit.
-
The more you look the worse it gets ? I hope you manage to get a resolution.

Under the slab & yes PIR.

We have to make a decision tomorrow on our insulation to go under the slab, it’s 100mm on the drawings but is there any advantage to go to 150mm? Scotframe 6” closed kit, 180m2 ground floor, 100mm subfloor, £1350 in difference between them. Any thoughts/advice appreciated ?

Internorm might be worth a look? I believe they can do a 6m slider but not sure about aluminium.

Hi @PeterW Sorry I should have pointed out that I was relating to the copper strip used under the ridge to stop the growth of moss etc. I’m not sure if it is a problem on slates or more specific to tiles etc.
-
Hello, Just wondering on your thoughts regarding the use of copper strip for Cambrian slate, which is artificial/reclaimed slate. Is it worth doing anyway or is it not required for slate? Thanks

I find concrete cills tend to crack & go green. I’m actually considering aluminium for a new build but not 100% sold on them yet.
