  1. You need to have the building warrant approved before you will get the funds, the mortgage can be in place though.
  2. I used 32mm hydro duct, cut out of the underside of insulation.
  3. It’s on order, 375 m2 so it’s expensive, no windows, no stair case etc.
  4. My Scotframe kit has gone up by 25% from last year…..
  5. Ours are coming from Internorm, 5m sliding, triple glazed.
  6. We have carried out the groundwork, we are waiting for the kit to be made. Scotframe closed kit, highly insulated. If we were to do it we would want to go for integrated ones.
  7. Sorry to hijack this thread, I have a new build starting soon & never gave any thought to having solar but times are a changing. @pocster, @Marvin how many solar panels are you talking about for your generation?
  8. @pocster think these are the boys for steel beams like yours.
  9. Not an expert but is that the correct screws for steel that thick? As above a mag drill will be your friend here. Have seen fixings fired into steel beams through wood with Hilti or equivalent.
  10. Never heard of Rega Vent, I went for a Vent Axia from BPC ventilation & very pleased with it.
  11. Yes, an excel spreadsheet is what we did, don’t need to provide evidence, but we were realistic with the prices. Get an idea of costs from builders, joiners, plumbers, UFH, kitchen, heat pump etc.
  12. As above just do your own, we did this and no problems ??
  13. We went to one in Edinburgh in 2019, well before covid times & it was really good. The main objective for us was to decide on windows & doors which we did, it’s nice to be able to compare different makes in one place.
  14. I fitted a Vent Axia sentinel in 2020 & very pleased with it.
  15. I used 75mm, I thought that was standard size.
  16. I think it’s fairly normal, we just had to do 700mm wide for timber frame kit.
  17. The more you look the worse it gets ? I hope you manage to get a resolution.
  18. Under the slab & yes PIR.
  19. We have to make a decision tomorrow on our insulation to go under the slab, it’s 100mm on the drawings but is there any advantage to go to 150mm? Scotframe 6” closed kit, 180m2 ground floor, 100mm subfloor, £1350 in difference between them. Any thoughts/advice appreciated ?
  20. Yes, the UFH was calling for heat, I will keep an eye on it, everything is working well but I’m sure it used to move before.
  21. My heating system has the same valve, I have just been doing some maintenance & checked the little lever & it feels stuck. I waited for the hot water to heat up then switch to underfloor but the lever didn’t move. Should I investigate it further or leave it alone?
  22. Internorm might be worth a look? I believe they can do a 6m slider but not sure about aluminium.
  23. Hi @PeterW Sorry I should have pointed out that I was relating to the copper strip used under the ridge to stop the growth of moss etc. I’m not sure if it is a problem on slates or more specific to tiles etc.
  24. Hello, Just wondering on your thoughts regarding the use of copper strip for Cambrian slate, which is artificial/reclaimed slate. Is it worth doing anyway or is it not required for slate? Thanks
  25. I find concrete cills tend to crack & go green. I’m actually considering aluminium for a new build but not 100% sold on them yet.
