  1. @JSHarris would you need a lot more storage space for the NiFe system compared to the lithium system?
  2. I think @ProDave might be thinking of things like this. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vents-Prevents-Condensation-Attic-Ventilation/dp/B00M97O5YY
  3. Has anyone had an overhead telephone line removed by Openreach and what did it cost? I'm tempted to just disconnect from the house, coil it up and leave it on the pole. It hasn't provided a service for two months.
  4. It is possible to convert septic tanks to treatment plants. Don't know how effective they are but if they meet the requirements I guess they're okay. Other makes are available. https://www.wte-ltd.co.uk/septictankconversion.html
  5. Hi @Paul Stevenson, I installed a Nu-Lok roof on my self build around seven years ago which I bought from a company called Nu-Sustainable in Northamptonshire which was supplied by Raven Roofing in Wiltshire. Raven Roofing don't appear to stock Nu-Lok any longer so are you now the only supplier in the UK and did you take over from Nu-Sustainable?
  6. I had one of these https://www.tooled-up.com/vitrex-versatile-power-pro-900-wet-bridge-radial-tile-saw/prod/184706/ I never got wet but I did use it outdoors for the roof tiles, floor tiles and paving slabs. Hopefully won't have to do those jobs again so gave it away a few months ago.
  7. Well Ian, been there done that. The only difference being that I got the driver to crane it up onto the scaffolding, saves a bit of sweat . Hope you've checked the batch numbers on the tiles. I think I've got some channels left over if you run short.
  8. No it didn't, but I think if the racking had been a lot thinner then gluing or sealing might have had an effect.
  9. True, along with 15mm OSB3 racking.
  10. That's right, and the BCO said the same. Ours was 0.47m3/(h.m2)@50Pa and the BCO said he usually sees around 4 to 5m3/(h.m2). We're amateurs and didn't use any air tightness membranes or tapes so it should be possible for the professionals with a bit of care.
  11. I see, but most bricks have frogs or holes and most of the slips I looked at were 15mm so I think you'll probably be looking at around 24kg/m2 which would put it much closer to the 29kg limit and that's without the adhesive.
  12. I don't quite follow your calculations but my brick slips weigh 400g each.
  13. I don't know why the brick slips I used would have to go on a backing board. They are only stuck on with what looked like exterior tile adhesive. The only thing I can think of is possibly different expansion rates but then a flexible adhesive should sort that out.
  14. Our neighbour has a Nibe ASHP which is about 2m from our fence and on a still day with no other sounds you can just about hear a gentle whirring sound when standing next to the fence.
  15. Friends of ours used Touchwood Homes and are very happy with their build.
  16. Well done for considering carefully and not being sucked in. Good luck with your future plans.
  17. Our balcony faces west and it's nice to sit out there watching the sunset, listen to the birds singing and then if we're lucky watch the bats flying around. Good de-stresser after a day working on the house.
  18. My plasterer used Febond Blue Grit on some areas. He said it was the best.
  19. My plasterer told me never to put PVA on plasterboard.
  20. We have silicone utensils which go in the dishwasher. We don't have any aluminium pots and our plastic storage boxes are dishwasher proof. We clean hob and worktops with a spray cleaner. We don't own a washing up bowl.
  21. Having a dishwasher in our houses definitely ended washing up in a sink.
  22. If you pm me your address I'll send you 20m. I've still got a load left over.
