Why not have the outdoor unit sitting on the path and have longer pipes fitted behind the cladding?

We use a pack of blocks around every 3 to 4 weeks and pay £5 a pack from our local supplier. Our hardness is around 320ppm.

Ran ours through conduit which we cable tied to the metal webs.

We have Rehau Geneo insulated frames with 3G. They're still doing their job seven years later.

I think you were probably unlucky with your TF build. We have a portal timber I-beam frame and have vaulted ceilings upstairs in some rooms. We don't have any movement or creaking but as you say it's not a good idea to change plans half way through with a TF.

How easily does 10mm pipe push through 15mm pipe?

I was a member of the AECB for several years a while back. Our local group is still thriving and they used to arrange interesting meetings at local pubs and visits to low energy buildings. Ten years ago the forum was a good place to pick up useful information but it has gradually declined over the years and is now useless. I did download a lot of their silver and gold construction details many years ago.

I think that most people would be very pleased if their builders were as good as the reviews you have listed. I can think of one contributor on this forum who used a large building company who would have been very happy to have received a service that you have indicated, unfortunately she didn't. As for Checkatrade, I used a window company registered with them and was unhappy with some after sales service and due to the insistence of Checkatrade the window company sorted out the problem I had.

I would do it in stages. Initially I would plant an identical hedge to your neighbours continuing it around the boundary of your property. If there are no complaints I would apply to replace the hedge with a 2m fence. If it was refused I would grow the hedge higher and see what happens. Presumably you could remove the wall at any time.

I bought one of those and it's still sitting in it's box unused. I have never found it necessary to increase the extract fan speed.

In Lindab's instructions it states that cutting with power tools will prevent the natural creep of the galvanising back over the cut edge which I think is due to the metal heating up when cut with power tools.

Is that Linden or Lindab guttering. If it's Lindab it can't be cut with power tools only with hand tools. I cut the holes in mine with tin snips the same size as the downpipe diameter.

Living near the sea or in an enclosed site with water nearby usually means higher humidity. So being inland on an open site presumably means lower humidity.

My extract motor is set at 25% for 1, 45% for 2, 75% for 3 and 100% for 4. The system runs at number 2 all the time. I have never had to increase the speed and in the bathrooms there is no condensation. IIRC @JSHarris said he had fitted a humidity sensor but that it wasn't needed.

@TerryE I've had several of the block salt softeners over the years and never carried out any maintenance. I did have a leak on my Harveys the other day and a technician replaced a valve and a push fit connector. He said they are expected to last ten years without maintenance.

I have just put one of these on the BH Tool Loan Service.

It's not a question of need but want. Where we live having wall and roof U values of less than 0.1 meant not needing to have a conventional central heating system ie UFH or radiators. This was one of our wants. I ran a lot of iterations of PHPP to arrive at this value. This is of course dependent on shape of house, weather etc, but works for us.

@dimpsy that's very interesting, I'll sign up for that. I vacuum ours every three months and change them every six months when they still don't look as bad as in the picture in the link.
