I would have thought that is exactly what is needed. The outer layer of insulation of the ICF wall would line up with the insulation upstand of the Isoquick creating a thermal bridge free construction.

I found Lindab straightforward to fit just following the instructions, especially relating to how to cut it. It's been up over seven years with no problems, no rust. At the start of our build we only worked nine months of the year having December off for Christmas and going away to Madeira for January and February. This was fine from the relaxing point of view but we soon discovered that only working three quarters of the year meant the build was taking a very long time. Depends what you want. We haven't had the long winter break for several years now.

I paid £636 without VAT which was for connecting to the pole and connecting to the house. They pulled the cable through ducting, including hockey sticks, which I had laid using the pull cord which I had fed through.

We hired when we wanted one, also at £50 a day, although several years ago. The chap was at the end of the road, brought it down, with diesel. All the advantages and no hassle if anything goes wrong.

Our I-beam timber frame with OSB3 exterior racking was covered in Protect TF200 Thermo membrane and survived several months without coming to any harm.

We had similar problems with our Planning Department but we had a different experience with our Planning Committee which approved our application unanimously against Planning Department advice. Well done for sticking with it. I could say it will all get easier now, but I'm a realist. Good luck for the rest of the project.

Sounds good. If you are going to significantly improve the insulation then the warm air heating could be at a lower temperature. We have a very well insulated house with warm air heating and find it works well.

The water table around here can be up to road level so the BCO and Highways agreed that we could discharge roof drainage straight onto the lane so we bypassed SuDS. Saved a lot of money.

They are RAL7037. There are many different profiles for uPVC some insulated, some not as there are different types of engineered timber some with insulation and some not. He is wrong to make such a statement without qualifying it.

@soapstar We live a couple of miles from the sea. We have Rehau Geneo fibre reinforced uPVC frames which are insulated and the thermal performance is better than timber. We had the corner welds filled before the frames were sprayed and so far everybody who has commented thinks they are aluminium.

I've twice seen spiders drop off the bottom of the entrance door when I've opened it. They get disposed of very quickly if I see them. In the summer we leave doors and windows open so plenty of time for them to come in.

Before I bought it I telephoned them and there is an old chap there (probably younger than me), who was very helpful. Could be worth a call.

IIRC the waste pipe is quite a small diameter so using 15mm might cause problems with pressure. Could you feed the waste pipe through the 15mm pipe?

It's going to be less work to take two new 22mm pipes up the stud wall if connecting at the top is straightforward.

It's been sitting for over a year, have you tested it to check that it still works?

You would need to check if there is a length limit for the waste pipe. I can't remember, but should be in the instructions I gave you. IIRC the overflow should be a straight run.

Very rarely see bats any longer around here, nor that many insects. The orchards and fields are often sprayed. When we used to drive after dark the front of the car was always covered with moths. It's no longer the case.

Your experience isn't the same as ours and we have been using water softeners for over 25 years. The unit should be set up by the supplier to take account of the hardness of the water in your area. Did you measure the hardness yourself or did the supplier use your postcode to determine the hardness? We use liquid detergent which we dilute 50/50 with water in the bottle. We never use more than the standard amount for a wash and often a little less.

There is too much regeneration waste water too lose under the floor. Could you take it to the basin waste? The overflow could just go through an outside wall.
