So Detail A is definitely not as built ..! It shows a top and bottom flange cut and a pair of L brackets that have 4 No. bolts through the web. That has been done using a welded plate on the end of a hacked out (gas axe most likely) notch that does not meet spec. Who ordered and supplied the steels ..? They don’t meet your specification. Do you have another page with Detail 3 on it as I don’t think that is to spec either.

Here you go - £875 for a 3.75kw plug and play unit and works to -10°C according to the spec sheet https://www.automatedenvironmentalsystems.co.uk/product/remora-mini-swimming-pool-heat-pump-with-wi-fi/?attribute_model=Remora+Mini+m3+Wi-Fi+-+3.98kW+Plug+%26+Play+(230v)&gclid=CjwKCAjwlcaRBhBYEiwAK341jcVRON-oU02GLGFhBE1JP7RZqcu8LD5perhb4ai_7ND_rTyhro59UxoCKy4QAvD_BwE

confused here - what is your issue ..?? Do you have a site height limitation ..?? And what is your outer wall..? Brick or render on block ..? If you’re going for insulation and screed then get the brickies to do a double row of blocks / brick out block inner with your cavity and then they will back fill that. You’ll then need to make sure you have enough room for a 125mm of MOT1 and then compact / blind this and put a DPM and cast your concrete to the top of the inner block. From there, bring your inner block up another level, bring the DPM up and over that and that is now your FFL when you infil with insulation and screed.

A lot of the pool ones don’t have defrost on them so can only be run when it’s over 8°C or they ice up. Mate has one on a koi pond - will check what make his is as it’s not very big !

Young family self-building in Shropshire
PeterW replied to TheSalopian's topic in Introduce Yourself
The NEC show is good for ideas and they will all talk to you. It also helps you when looking at plots as you can start to visualise what you do and don’t want. It’s worth having a couple of design ideas in your head or scribbled on paper to say “if it’s rural and village setting we want this..” or “if it’s xyz we could have modern” as you may find your plot when you find it dictates the house type to some degree. -
Yeh you can just see the spotty oik on the counter answering technical questions in PlumbCenter..!! They barely understand the difference between 3/4” and 1/2” 🤣🤣🤣

Bath where the basin is; WC, sink, towel rail then shower down the window wall

Its actually well defined. There are a number of “Competent Persons” schemes in the UK (think Gas Safe Register, NICEIC etc) but oddly that has to be capitalized and usually states a member of a “Competent Persons Scheme”. Poor legal drafting is not an excuse for a supplier trying to not honour warranty provisions. No but you can pick one up via Wolesley without an account and they are available online … so they are selling direct via distribution which is what everyone else does.
-
So you said that Sunamp won’t warranty unless it is installed by a registered installer ..? But now it’s competent person.?? A competent persons scheme ..?? Or someone who can prove competence ..?? All of these are different and tbh it gives me (and probably any rational person reading this) less and less impetus to actually use Sunamp as a product as they can’t even define their own terms or decide what is actually warranted.

Yeh the island is very quirky in its ways !!

Ouch !! I pay £232 for 8 yard and think that’s expensive ..!!
-
Bigger question is how does it get there ..? And how deep is it ..? Looks like you will build over it as part of the extension so you’ll need to be really careful and I would ideally look to get it moved into the driveway - if you have machinery on site then it’s just a meter move.

@Marvin how much are you being quoted and where ..?

MVHR system in new build
PeterW replied to deuce22's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
The issue is those free services make a lot of assumptions. The good ones take this into account and also understand all your systems and services, the others sometimes forget to tell you that you need “x ducts of 75mm through the floor” which is something if you have beam and block you need to know about at design time not installation ! As @Nickfromwales and @Happy Valleypoint out - plant space is premium in a build and it is surprising how little gets planned in to start with. If you search MVHR installation on the forum you’ll find plenty of examples of people having to be creative in siting units to take into consideration space that hasn’t been planned at design time. -
No actually I said under consumer law.. which again is what the point is. You cannot sell a product to a consumer in the UK directly and insist on using a specific installer to gain a minimum warranty - this was the whole point about block exemption on products and services when it was introduced. Given the significant number of product suppliers out there that do not have - or need - approved installers, the product in question here (Sunamp) is really running down toward a closed market and it’s benefits case for what was the original market opportunity is seriously diminishing - the original marketing said it could be installed by any plumber with no G3 requirement due to its simplicity, yet now they say to get a warranty you need to use an “approved installer”…? For 2 pipes and a 3 core cable ..??? Its also worth noting that some manufacturers use “registered installers” as geographic control on markets and you find they have segmented the UK into delivery zones - I pity they likes of @ProDave and others north of the border as they get either one choice or no choice of supplier as the manufacturer thinks Scotland as a region is reasonable ..!! As I said previously, any specifications I’ve done have client end usage and also maintainability taken into consideration - being held to ransom by an installer network for even basic maintenance is not necessary and counter productive for a product that is core to the main DHW service of a property.
-
Sorry what’s that got to do with the subject ..?? My point is that a supplier that insists on keeping a closed installer list to maintain warranty on a borderline consumer item is basically profiteering - nothing to do with due diligence or anything else.

Toolstation stock Doncaster cables armoured in 10mm - how much do you need..?

What’s the worst mistake you’ve made on your build?
PeterW replied to Adsibob's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Assuming an existing building was square and level .. and then having to work around splayed walls and not pick it up until it was too late and a room built that has a pair of opposing windows and one is 35mm further back than the other as they were both measured from one wall and not checked ..! -
Nope I use Newark Copper as they are up the road and now Telford since I’ve had Trevor on speed dial ..! 🤣
-
I wouldn’t use that list as a good set of references tbh as there is one on there that used to do solar panels till the ar$E fell out of the market so I doubt he knows one end of a spanner from the other, and another that was chucked off the Gas Safe Register for dangerous installations. I did check though and Sunamp can’t sell through a distributor to an end customer and not abide by consumer law - they are duty bound to honour a minimum 12 month warranty, and given they have their installation on YouTube showing “how easy it is” then they would have a hard time justifying to a court that it was a skilled job. Sorry but any supplier that tries the “must use our installers” crap usually gets binned off our lists.
-
See if he will do fit only as Cylinders2Go pricing (especially with the forum mentioned as @Nickfromwales said) is hard to beat. And it’s next day delivery plus they will customise the tank inlet to your requirements so it can be left or right of the immersions etc. A lot of the off the shelf ones don’t do that.

@Andehh you’ve removed the posts but did it have http or https as we only support secure image links.
