  1. I thought they had used the pallets to strategically lift the planters so that the internal to external shots showed plants not rubbish ..!!
  2. I’ve got a desktop app that cost me about $15 and it does 100 at a time from pretty much any format to any format. Quick and simple.
  3. You may want to check it’s accepted as a lot of sparks will not test someone else’s installs as the regs are now very different.
  4. I love this stuff for quick and simple joints that are incredibly strong. Pin it every 150mm with finishing gun.
  5. Not sure for the average DIY use that these are needed as there are very few jobs on a new build that you can do without being qualified/registered as its all under Part P. Whilst "technically" you could do the whole lot under your Building Regs submission, its unlikely the council would accept it as their BCO would need to be 17/18th edition certified to sign it off.
  6. What do you plan to do with the remaining £5k when you've paid for everything...??? Where in the UK are you...?? Cat6 everywhere is a good idea as long as its easily pulled through to terminate in each wall. 2 wires per back box and run it all to a cupboard and leave plenty of slack rolled up
  7. @BotusBuild just confirm that what you haven't got is actually full planning with reserved matters. Some of these can be done without additional plans - materials, landscape plan etc - but some will need more detailed plans. Its now very rare for single plots to get OPP, tends to be used by larger schemes purely due to cost.
  8. Screwfix will price match with a fight. Just need to point out that FFX have a store and it’s less than 10 miles from Screwfix....
  9. Socket testers with a bleeper are also really useful for tracing circuits on your own when you’re at a fuse board as you can plug in and hear the bleeping then switch off circuits at the board and know when you have isolated a circuit. As @JSHarris says, Kewtech or Megger would be my choice.
  10. Agree - its the flat rate scheme. But given I expect the recoverable VAT for them would be less than £500 a year, the added cost to customers (ie £15k PA) would mean that you're increasing your overhead to basically bring in more money for the revenue and no value to yourself. I do know someone who operates 3 companies though - all legit, but there is some wicked tax evasion avoidance that goes on between them depending on what the client is...
  11. And for @Onoff to try and copy, mock up in CAD and never actually get round to finishing... bit like a bathroom... ?
  12. Quite a simple way actually... Good friend of mine is a sports physio - £50/30 mins, probably does 16 hours a week at most. Turns over around £75k, expenses are the office/consulting room, phone and PC and is self employed and the whole lot goes through the books as taxable etc. No need to go VAT registered as there is very little by way of VAT recovery, and charging VAT would be counter intuitive.
  13. Cost is comparable - it’s a pretty good system and available most places. Wickes do it, as do most of the merchants.
  14. If you like the look and feel of MK then look at the Schneider Lisse range from Screwfix as an alternative as it’s cheaper but the quality is very good.
  15. You can get that off with a power plane if you do it slowly.
  16. That’s a threshold that’s been replaced over time as they aren’t the same size or age by the looks of it to the others. I’d take them up and look at planing the backs as if you sand or plane the front you will lose the patina
  17. Ryobi is part of Electrolux group as are Husqvarna and a couple of other brands. Ryobi One is reasonably priced but the tools are not that refined, and they feel clunky. My joiner has the One+ stuff and impact drivers compared, my Makita LXT out performs it and is quieter. There was about £10 difference between the two, Makita give a 3 year warranty though. You can buy buy a whole kit of stuff from FFX with 5Ah but unless you’re hammering the units you can use 3Ah batteries and a fast charger and won’t run out of juice.
  18. Not how HMRC see it, as they would tax based on the income in year - and it has to be market rent so in London that could be a 4 figure sum per month which definitely puts the OP into income tax territory
  19. Black 25mm MDPE in 500m reels ..?? Just lay it out as a slinky and tie wrap the overlaps and then just tow it out with a boat ..?? kensa really are the only trick in town unless you buy from Alibaba..?? If you don’t need too much heat then could be the best way ..??
  20. beware of this - it promotes sound transfer between rooms and also compromises fire integrity unless you use intumescent liners.
  21. Nothing structural about the boards on Kwikstage - they just slot between transoms. Integrity comes from the transoms, ledgers and the cross braces every 4 bays. When you are putting this stuff up, always wear a helmet, gloves and eye protection - boards are heavy, ledgers have steel spikes on them, and invariably there is muck and crap on boards that ends up in your face....
  22. Still wants something under it - can you just put 6mm ply under the tray and that will make sure nothing moves.
  23. Just don't….. it will be more hassle and not as useful as dropping the inset panels into the floor.
  24. Joists 150mm...?? Can you fit battens / 3x2 inside each joist at 22mm below the top, then cut and fit 22mm chipboard between the joists..? Then overlay this with 18mm ply, glued and screwed at close centres (200mm) and then tile on that...? 10mm tile seems pretty thick when you then add 2-3mm for adhesive..?
  25. You may joke.... but I know a brickie that had 2 plastic mugs, one for admix and one for cement dye so the mix was always perfect. He also mixed from 2 different bulk bags of sand so that there was no shading across bags..!
