  1. Vitra porcelain on a Geberit frame - will be fine. Geberit frames are the best - sigma flush plates can be had for list less 65% if you search.
  2. The mistake you are making is buying as a package ..! have a look for Vitra porcelain. And rimless are not all they are cracked up to be.
  3. PoE cameras, access points, internet radio to name three
  4. Top up systems come in many shapes and sizes but at £200 plus they aren’t cheap. Biggest issue is they all need a class 1 air gap between the mains and the rainwater supply. This is just one example. https://steelpumps.co.uk/product/electronic-mains-water-top-up-with-pump-isolation-and-alarm/ You could make one for about £20 based on that picture.
  5. I did 26m with 25mm cable and the big learning point is make sure your bends are very very big radius in the ducts .... pulling a 25mm armoured 3 core cable through a 63mm duct was a 3 man job ..!
  6. Only that it is about £100 more than a decent set... Frame can be had for £120, flush plate is £20, decent pan and seat you can get for £120 so....
  7. Nope - just submit a business registration. I do it with a couple of other shows too. A few of the good HVAC companies are at Construction Week - better than going to the ones in GDL
  8. Possibly there on the Thursday afternoon. https://www.ukconstructionweek.com/
  9. That is correct - I know of a big wood chip boiler install and a 10,000 litre thermal store that has a heat meter on the output to the house as it is installed as a district heating system (ironically to a single property....). They are expensive but they aren't the best in terms of being accurate as the sensor essentially looks like a DS18B20 and a small turbine flow meter, and the temperature sensor is only stuck in a pipe pocket...
  10. Yep sorry - autocorrect !
  11. Very similar to Italy where the local Alimentari is the core of a village and you see a few in every small town. Everything from loo rolls to fresh cheese and meat, even the odd bottle of vino next to the light bulbs...
  12. Sewer gas is a very old concept and much less common these days. AAV/SVP are normally about stopping suction of water traps in WCs, showers and basins and the associated 'gurgling' you get as air is drawn through the water traps. These can be simply fixed by either using an inline AAV on a waste under a sink, or an AAV trap.
  13. V12 Boots are very good and pretty reasonable on price - try Granite Workwear
  14. Because knowledge costs money, and it takes time... which also costs money... When you look at the costs of just documentation for standards, it can soon mount up and they are probably working on the basis of a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing...
  15. I'd use 32mm waste pipe as conduit rather than normal 20/25mm as it will give you more space for bigger cables.
  16. From memory these don't meet WRAS or Building Regulations so it would have to be completely disconnected from the house supplies. The images on the site about using rainwater and solar heating it was a recipe for making some pretty nasty bacteria soup if you are not careful.
  17. I’ve found GSE Southern to be really flexible and helpful for this non standard stuff. Best way is give them a call direct, don’t bother trying to do it on the website
  18. Sorry for the daft question but how have you got this through building control ..?? If you’ve submitted a design based on EWI of rockwool, changing the EWI would need a change in submission.
  19. How ......??? Blower proof by definition is a rubber type coating to stop air movement, which also prevents moisture moving through the wall. Assume this is HD rockwool batts that have been specified..?? Have you considered you could get a passiv(e) wall build up for 450mm using standard materials ..??
  20. The post above shows the method using the Ancon system. You can have slips cut from ordinary bricks to match a standard build up but it’s not cheap.
  21. How is the Rockwool facade insulation attached to the porotherm blocks ..?? There is is no vapour control layers in any of that so the assumption is this is a “breathing” wall build up ..??
  22. Neighbours probably leans forward so the rain doesn’t run down the wall. Looks like a standard developer canopy ..??
  23. Lintels - probably using RSJs with welded flanges. That looks like an artists impression anyway - usual stuff that can’t actually be built ......
  24. I take it the sales rep told you this and not the technical department ..? Hollow clay blocks have a low heat capacity in comparison to a concrete block and beam floor. What is your wall build up as the Weinerberger site is very light on detail about uValues and to get Passiv levels you are going to need some insulation somewhere.
  25. That’s fine then - it’s venting the sewer. You may get some sink gurgling when a toilet in the extension is flushed but otherwise that is to regs. If it’s a problem then fit a couple of 32 or 40mm AAVs or anti siphon wastes to the basins.
