  1. Asking for trouble. You’ll need to find 82mm slip couplings plus other stuff to make that work as you can’t move the current pipes. If it’s the only route you have and assuming it’s running along the full length of the wall in the picture, why not just attach it to the main wall at a steep angle behind that studwork ..?? Plenty of support and straps holding it firm, and you can inspect it before you close everything up. You may also have to put some sort of trap in anyway if this connects to the main sewer - smells will get back from it whatever you do if not.
  2. Blocks are 440x215, so 450x225 with a 10mm mortar bed. 10 to the square meter. If the blocks are slightly smaller then they could be imperial but will only be 5-6mm
  3. Lose the steps. You have enough fall on the last piece to drop it to a slope, possibly drop the whole 800mm if you start from the edge of the square. As it is then no longer a “raised platform” it is not required to have planning. It will also give you much more usability as do not underestimate the benefit of a step free access to the garden ..!
  4. I would reroute it completely. Rainwater pipework inside buildings and below floors is asking for trouble later down the line. Redo it while you have the chance.
  5. Of course he has ... it’s just a very expensive Willis Heater in a box and will chew through electricity like it’s going out of fashion. As @SteamyTea says, other plumbers are available ...
  6. I use County Battery as they are local to me and have found the Fuller Batteries very good and also have a decent warranty. https://www.countybattery.co.uk/leisure-batteries/fuller-agm-leisure-and-marine-battery-12v-115ah-sealed/ You would need 2, but they have a discount of 10% when you spend over £250. They do a 200Ah Lithium too, but it’s £1500......
  7. 32 week delay on some tiles currently. Also, watch out for reclaim yards adding massive premiums to prices - seen them selling Marley moderns for example at £1.75 each, they are only £1.15 new ..! Same with clays - rosemarys are pretty easy to match, so keep an eye out on Facebook marketplace too.
  8. This was a couple of weeks ago https://www.constructionnews.co.uk/news/uk-material-shortages-cement-and-aggregates-added-to-the-list-08-04-2021/
  9. Why are there 3 layers of insulation ..?? 120mm PIR would be better - what’s the screed thickness ..?? Looks like there is the space to get 120mm in there and will work fine.
  10. Actually it’s distribution network operator but it’s close enough .. ?
  11. Flashing is dog rough. There are overlaps in it so you’ll need to get them sealed. I think the flashing is only cut into the render and not the wall behind so it will leak.
  12. Not at all - only issue is when you’ve got DPM down and it rains as you end up with a nice swimming pool. The insulation doesn’t soak up water but you can get some floating so if you do this in the autumn you can sometimes need a pump to take the excess out. Concrete pour will displace the rest of the water.
  13. Apparebtly the Rugby plant ran very low. Had a delivery last week and they were saying they couldn’t get bulk cement for a few days. Bagged is in short supply too.
  14. It’s not the boundary in the term planning are looking for - the metal fence will be the boundary. I would make it as low as practical - can you get away with a 4ft fence ..?
  15. @ToughButterCup here you go - I’ll look where I got mine as it wasn’t S’fix but can’t find the invoice .. it’s filed ... https://www.screwfix.com/p/schneider-electric-lisse-red-led-indicator-250v-5-pack/6336t
  16. The neons ..?? Errr ... well they are Schneider ones not LAP (just checked my S’fix orders) and this is the switch I used and there is also an LED / neon which I’m looking for https://www.screwfix.com/p/schneider-electric-lisse-20ax-1-gang-dp-control-switch-white-with-led/5135j
  17. An internal ASHP or waste heat recovery ASHP can only really heat a hot water tank. ASHP technology takes a lot of air and the small amount of heat from it. To do that, you need big fans and big condensers and a lot of airflow. The smaller ones will give you 2-3kW heat at most, some even less.
  18. Yes assuming the beneficiary of the covenant is still alive and there is nothing about heirs and successors in title etc. Solicitor should pick this sort of stuff up
  19. Flow rates normally only refer to combi boilers. For a system boiler they are unknown unknowns ..?? Cylinder recovery rate is based on cylinder size, coil surface area, pump speed and boiler temperature. Radiators are just rads - it supplies the rated kW at 70°C to the heating system. Who’s done the M&E design for the build ..?
  20. Like @Nickfromwales I would never specify a system without inhibitor. The boiler is one component. You can get galvanic corrosion from a mix of materials and there are far too many in a heating and hot water system to remove what has become a core component of a heating system. Have you googled the right thing ..? Alpha make the e-tec S which is a system boiler. https://www.alpha-innovation.co.uk/products/Boilers/System+Boilers/E-Tec+S/793038486 And it’s UK wide distribution and installation - this is the London map
  21. No issue - a number of the manufacturers make the external units with coastal protection It won’t - fans will more than cope even in strong winds No noisier than a lot of other household items Insulate them on install like any boiler
  22. @SimonD I’ve not looked at it but does the Alpha thermal store have an immersion available for backup or PV dump load...?
  23. Roof tiles are a big issue round here - 26-32 weeks for Marley’s so it’s hitting a lot of projects. Builder I know has had his stock confirmed for a roof he is doing in July and having it delivered this week to site so he doesn’t loose it.
  24. Nope. Both are PVC with UV stabilisers. Just watch out for the light grey ABS solvent weld that is a slightly different diameter.
  25. Alpha e-Tec and Protec boilers are good for the price. They have also brought out one with a thermal store add on which is a combi with a gas saver and buffer if you can’t site a cylinder and still want large flow rates.
