I'm anticipating my 50mm solvent weld elbows having to go inside the wall a bit so the wall brackets reach. I assume that's normal? Same as when I put my 110mm branch in for the WCs. Doesn't help that my render aside from being like granite is rougher than a badgers arse and has been done using the "chip pan" method. Seriously.....I found the chip pan when I dug the path up and it matches the render pattern.

Can't see how it would be airtight but it would cut losses down a bit. Maybe copious silicon as you push it in. Are you getting a bung off the makers for posting this link?

Hands up who wants to touch that flint work and marvel at it whilst making appreciative noises! Me!

Is this the chance to buy some new tools?
Onoff replied to MikeSharp01's topic in Plastering & Rendering
If you're not affixing your back boxes to a stud i.e. just using a dry lining box then it's imperative that the cut out is as neat as to keep integrity of the board. Once you start tearing the paper on the board and losing chunks of plaster on the back as your blunt Stanley breaks through then a regularly used socket can become loose. I've been known to paint the edges of the cut out with PVA to keep the powdery edge together. Multitool makes a neat job. -
TP will not leave me alone! It started when I bought a Celotex saw and couldn't but it without having one of their cards. They got me my 2.7m mrpb and I've had marine ply and insulated pb all cheaper than I could get it locally elsewhere.

Do you mean these? https://www.cablejoints.co.uk/sub-product-details/duct-seals-duct-sealing-csd-rise-duct-seal Wonder if you would get away with Wiska Gel? Wet room without mosaic tiles?
Onoff replied to divorcingjack's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
I was debating leaving it in actually. Fabrication tonight delayed: After a day up to my armpits in hydraulic oil I'd just come out of the shower and had a Fosters in hand. A delivery driver turns up with a "parcel" for my neighbour. No problem, I said I'd take it. "I don't think so!" said the driver. He's in a 7.5T lorry and it's a 400KG sawmill! Unloaded and back indoors now. Beers warm though! -

There were seriously posh people in there earlier, the woman exclaimed "Oh look Roger they do TOOLS!" They then stood there enthusing about a ratcheting, multi size, fits anything spanner thing. -

Plenty of the corded, collated screw guns in Lidl Sevenoaks still. -

Sharp Stanley long straight edge. Snap and fold then run the knife up the fold from the other side. Get the little yellow surform plane from Screweys for adjusting edges: http://www.screwfix.com/p/stanley-surform-block-plane/20388 I use the mutitool for sockets. Yes to a collated gun. Welcome to borrow my Parkside corded one to try. -
Incoming mains water: 20mm or 25mm MDPE? Best bet?
Onoff replied to oranjeboom's topic in General Plumbing
I could not, for love not money get the 25mm MDPE to stopcock joint to seal until I got some Jet Blue Plus. http://www.plumbcenter.co.uk/product/center-center-jet-blue-plus-500-g/ Wouldn't use anything else now.- 20 replies

The tails entry specifically must maintain the level of fire protection afforded by the metal cu "as far as reasonably practical". One could argue that sealing the thing up cuts down on ventilation so could exacerbate the fire issue! As I said, bolt a metal cu to a wall and you've got a wall mounted fire if it goes up! They haven't changed the design of say the incomers. It was MK, YES MK a little while back had a recall on their CUs as the incomers were I think going up. It was this I was looking at...maybe I should finish the leccy wacker plate first?

Seriously now... I'm after some plans to make a small backhoe to go on a lawn tractor like this. Thinking use the pto to drive a hydraulic pump etc. Any ideas?

I never take any photos...

Not got the OSG in front of me but pretty sure if you can find a plastic enclosure that'll cope with a certain degree "glow wire test" I think is the term then that's considered non combustible. One of the cu makers is touting the non flammability of the PAINT on their metal CUs...(Wylex?). Just to set them apart from the others. Something else for you to consider / worry about. Go to Ireland and I think GARO DP rcbos (no fly lead, single module) are popular.
-
Plastic enclosures...why not? It's only CUs where the regs changed and only then because of manucturers changing to single screws, 5ww idiots fitting stuff straight out of the box without tightening, harder copper? single strands? etc. Think of the mains powered stuff in the average house that's got a plastic enclosure, PlayStations etc. So Clipsal.....guessing you'd agree it's a well known "name"? I would btw. Look what's standard type kit in Australia. Trust me we're behind: http://www.clipsal.com/Trade/Products/ProductDetail?CatNo=RCBE206/30S The SBS stuff is the same tech but he's got approvals for here.

I've gotten Hager from here before: http://www.gil-lec.co.uk/circuit-protection/consumer-units-accessories/hager-consumer-units-accessories

Incoming mains water: 20mm or 25mm MDPE? Best bet?
Onoff replied to oranjeboom's topic in General Plumbing
I've got 25mm coming up into a 22mm stopcock. It then tees off to an outside tap so no loss of pressure. Then a PRedV. Goes to 15mm at the mo. Will shortly change to 22mm.- 20 replies

More popular in Australia and on the Continent. Also their "makes" are household names to them just like our MK, Crabtree etc are here. (Don't think our "regs" are the "best in the world" btw). Manufacturers are going to carry on plugging their sad, tired old ranges / designs if there's demand, look at British Leyland! It's a case I think that "we" are catching up and it will become more common. Hager for example. Note though the absence of anything above 32A:
