  1. I just bought the Aldi compressor, came delivered yesterday. Not bad for £29.95:
  2. All about Amica: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/about-the-appliance-industry/manufacturer-information/2883-amica-wronki And you can look up here about any other maker: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/about-the-appliance-industry/manufacturer-information/
  3. Don't know if this is of any use: http://www.everbuild.co.uk/403-Concrete-Hardener-Dustproofer
  4. Couldn't agree more. I'll help anyone to the nth degree, karma and all that. There comes a point though. Sh!t on me or mine and as Mr Gilbert said "I can be one truly, nasty, fu****!"
  5. +1 Was this the Spanish crowd they bought? About the time they started branding the cheaper end stuff "Made in EU" rather than "Made in Germany".....'cos it wasn't anymore!
  6. I've been subjected to those management exercise / team building things. Drives me nuts and tbh I'm almost there on a good day. First one we all had a psych test for want of a better word. Me and my governor got 100% identical scores (with no collusion) and profiled the same which pissed him off no end! Second involved role play and I was given a difficult customer / no win situation. I simply stated the assessor needed to stop there and then as in the real world I'd have dragged them across the counter and settled it that way. Nobody argued. Third team building day and we were split into teams. You completed a task then the next team followed you. On some huge country estate. I hung back after completing my teams task and hid a load of the scaffold boards, barrels etc. There was no way the next team was crossing the imaginary lake without the sharks getting them. The instructors were going ballistic. Kobayashi Maru!
  7. I like this stuff, you need the gun to go with it. https://www.screwfix.com/p/fischer-fis-v-hybrid-mortar-resin-360ml/88507 The thing is with using resin that you have to be disciplined. As in drill as many holes as you can, clear them out with a proper puffer. Have your studs cut and distributed around next to each hole. Then go for it! Screw on a nozzle, pump out a bit so it mixes to the right consistency. Do this on a scrap of timber of card. Pump into hole, stud in and ideally wipe off any excess that comes out. Better than having to knock lumps off later (delegate! ) I sometimes even masking tape the stud if bolting something thin up. Keep the process going so the resin doesn't have time to harden in the nozzle. Have a new tube with you so you can swap over quick without having to use a new nozzle.
  8. If anyone knows where my bag of fibres is let me know please!
  9. I bought an Electra Elecheib induction hob from Comet as they were going bust. That well known make designed in Israel and made in Turkey. Started at £399...reduced to £199 and then found a 15% off code. So £169.15 all in. Schott Ceran glass etc. Figured for the money we'd take a chance. Fambloodytastic it's been too!
  10. The work and care you put in running those UFH pipes and for this to happen! Any chance a scabbler would help? http://www.mark1hire.co.uk/shop/floor-planers/
  11. Think about it, if I had somewhere warm and dry to work she'd come in, hover and "want to talk"! Ditto if I finished anything I'd have to come inside and again "talk". Nope, I'm quite happy veering off into yet another unfinished project territory.
  12. Wait till you've been married 25 years and you'll be gagging to get out to a freezing cold patio, in the dark and rain and play with power tools! You know my motto; "Not should I but can I?"
  13. Make sure your loft hatch is big enough to get the big T&G boards up there! Take this opportunity to sort your electrics and make sure it's all in good nick. Replace traditional screwed JBs with maintenance free ones if they're going to become inaccessible and watch for covering cables any more than they already are with insulation.
  14. I think some of that studding from the sheds is only Grade 4.6 mild steel. Years back we BINNED all our 4.6 stuff and from thereon in only ever use 8.8 min. The 4.6...well you can tell the difference when you hacksaw or file it it's so soft.
  15. Next time you're that way give me a shout and I'll drop something off for you. Or if they're coming up to you any time.
  16. 200KG is only like two big blokes standing up there. And they would be near point loads rather than evenly distributed.
  17. My chiropractor's in West Malling...spitting distance!
  18. My ex governor worked for Redpath Brown & Co Ltd as an apprentice. They did things like the rail bridge across the Thames at Charing Cross. One day Jimmy was asked to go and get a "bucket of holes" from so and so, Thinking it a wind up he ignored the guy and was promptly docked wages for being lippy. Turns out "holes" was the term used for the waste punchings from rivet holes. If they were in the wrong place they would weld a punching back in. I still use the same technique today and have a selection of hole and slot punchings.
  19. The microwave was supplied by the uni and on the inventory. Along with the exposed element kettle and broken, sparking toaster!
  20. I was thinking of doing it with 20mm galvanised knockouts... Apparently the pourable resin gets very hot. On Brojects they were actually worried whether the wooden bar top former would catch fire!
  21. On Brojects the other week they did a nickel top bar I thought looked good: http://brojects.tv/projects-2/ultimate-swim-up-bar/5/ I've been wondering what I could do with all these old 5p pieces!
  22. Every wall in the flat has signs of being previously drilled for brackets or whatever and has been very badly filled and not painted over. I'm going to re-mastic all the worktop edges etc. Just looks tatty and is a breeding ground for germs. The temptation is to balance the kettle or toaster on the microwave. I really don't want anything toppling into the sink. Anything I do will be ideally easily removeable and tbh will only add to the useability and safety of the place. Again, ideally, I'd drill the wall above where the sockets are but want to try and avoid that for various reasons (noise, hitting something). Thus the "shelf" will likely be on a leg (s). Tbh was even considering a line of Sika bond to the wall backing it up though that's a bit permanent. Maybe one leg, Sika on the back and a few screws to the u/side of the cupboard. Do it and argue the toss later on the grounds of safety. As an aside the supplied broken desk chair we've noted on the inventory has yet to be replaced. Fairly fundemental I'd say to sitting at a desk to work. Btw, he's yet to go out on the lash there. Not your typical fresher.
  23. Something here maybe: https://www.catersparesuk.co.uk/product/oven-lamp-bulb-glass-fitting-holder-inc-bulb-high-temperature-38mm-cut-out-part/ Reflective mirrors.....Pyro.....FP cable.....angled / shielded spots pointing up mounted low on the hearth.....???
  24. Cupboards full of crackers, tins of tuna, cereal etc. Wouldn't fancy it that high tbh.
  25. Hence the question about how much clearance is wise to leave all round!
