  1. Bearing in mind what you said about printing "flat" I think, I modelled the little "stub axles" that poke out of the sides as an arch shape rather than cylinders... Or could it have printed them as cylinders?
  2. Thanks. Looks like I can avoid Fusion 360 as I can model in AutoCAD and export as an .stl with good results as Jeremy has kindly confirmed with the printing.
  3. That's brilliant. Thanks very much. What's the material btw?
  4. Varilight Powergrid 4 gang white grid: MK: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/tcl/search?query=quinetic+grid+switch&Submit=Search
  5. Needs scale. https://permaculturenews.org/2011/12/15/the-jean-pain-way/
  6. I was at Ightham Mote a while back having a chat with the gardeners there. They were saying about the huge ammounts of compost they produce and the heat the piles generate. Half discussed harnessing that heat and it's something they've thought of too. Distance from piles to the main house is an issue...getting it across the moat etc!
  7. Replace the current plate entirely with a 4 gang grid plate either MK Logic or Varilight Powergrid. Fit 3 conventional grid switches and one matching Quinetic wireless grid switch, all either MK or Varilight. Use a Quinetic receiver on this other light you want to control. There is this but it's a faff when compared to the Quinetic solution plus you might need a deeper back box. https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/LMEST1.html?
  8. Ever thought of a Jean Pain style heap?
  9. Ta. Done so. I emailed you a FreeCAD file first...that was the AutoCAD stl imported into FreeCAD then saved in FreeCAD format. The last email I sent is the stl file straight from AutoCAD. I figured what I did wrong yesterday when trying to export the stl. I was trying to select the AutoCAD solid by drawing around with the selection tool. I should have simply clicked on the solid! Ignore the earlier batch of .dwgs and .dxfs. Hopefully this'll save me having to learn a new CAD package!
  10. Just thinking...maybe I don't even need to use FreeCAD...I'll send you the raw .stl I produced in AutoCAD to try.
  11. Create your solid in AutoCAD, a couple of circles in this case, extruded into cylinders then the smaller one subtracted from the larger one: Render it to make it look pretty (don't think this step is essential): File, Export, changing to an stl from the drop down menu with whatever destination folder you want: Simply click on the solid when prompted, it auto saves to what folder etc you've chosen: In this case I saved to the Desktop: Open FreeCAD and Open the stl:
  12. Success I think. Managed to export the AutoCAD 2010 .dwg as an stl file into FreeCAD. Jeremy, I'll send you the file.
  13. Thanks. Looks like an AnyCubic is on the cards. Happy to go "bigger" than the I3 Mega, after all it is his 21st! Maybe the Chiron even: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ANYCUBIC-Leveling-Extruder-400x400x450mm-Filament/dp/B07FTCZSXQ?ref_=ast_sto_dp Is the Anycubic UK site on Amazon the best place to buy? Cheers
  14. Yes please, pm incoming! So all I need is Fusion 360 and a 3D printer? Edit: Fusion 360 appears no longer free!
  15. If there's no grub screw to stop the bolt sliding in and out a small blob of silicone up the handle will have the same effect if left to set.
  16. Just an update on that (scam clearly) Creality Ender 3D printer I attempted to order from Cogkart. Put in the hands of my credit card company now. Said they'll investigate and come back to me within 7-10 days.
  17. The scary one was just for Halloween.
  18. Our water board were happy for me to take pictures of the trench with a tape measure in it to show the depth. Tbh they never followed up.
  19. 1) Dig hole nom. 6' deep. 2) Invite said arboriculturalist to inspect 3) "Nudge" 4) Fire up the digger.
  20. I only have access to Draftsight at the moment. Interestingly that allows export as a .stl. I might try opening the AutoCAD 2010 .dwg in Draftsight then simply exporting as a .stl and send you that? Another option is from within Drafsight I save it to an earlier Autocad .dwg and or .dxf...
  21. I blame @Visti! ? Totally the wrong time of year to contemplate it but I'm considering (again) doing my dormer roof, or at least half of it, YES, in this weather! I NEED a big project to make a mess and take ages! Be nice for SWMBO to be able to moan about how I took the roof just before Christmas! One half has had £££ worth of Flexacryl etc put on as above and is holding up at the moment. A stain has recently appeared on our bedroom ceiling under the untouched side, no suprises there. Both sides were badly re-felted again as aforementioned. The side that needs doing is the really dangerous side in terms of fall hazards. Looking at it the other day and they definitely laid new felt over old with adhesive only at the edges. I don't think the new felt was even overlapped, just butt jointed judging by the way its separating at the joins. Shrinkage? Ideally I'd pay for a proper scaffold roof to shield the works from the elements but that wont happen. If I do it it'd be with some form of quick to deploy tarpaulin. Im really liking the idea of doing away with the centre "ridge" and just having one big roof area. Even considering an access hatch out of the top. Fibreglass seems the logical way to go but obviously not the weather for it. EPDM maybe...one big piece? Been putting this off for years as to really complicate things I'm still considering externally insulating the roof and then eventually down the front and cheeks of the dormer. Then later the hips either side. I've REALLY got to consider the detailing of this...time for a scale model maybe! Half thinking as an "interim" repair to reroof each half in EPDM to get over the immediate leak issues then later, in better weather rip the lot off and maybe even fibreglass? Even doing EPDM now the fascias and soffit boards need redoing along with new firings to increase the slope angle. Keep thinking of @Barney12's cracking detail of the fibreglass dormer with hidden gutters. Another JFDI job!
  22. Trueview allows you to convert a new .dwg to be read by an old package. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-convert-a-dwg-file-to-a-previous-format.html
  23. Jeremy, thanks for having a go with that file, sorry it didn't appear to work. I'll have another go tonight to try and save it as in .stl format.
  24. Don't joke but someone is reproducing hard to source door handle inserts for the Capri already.
  25. We "rescue" plants. The fig tree my bother wanted rid of. The two laurels were in a skip.
