What's your biggest DIY calamity?
Onoff replied to Mulberry View's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Not to mention stoopid! ? -
The printer arrived. Bloody heavy box, 14.8kg. Unfortunately I, I mean HE ?, won't get to play with it until his Birthday (21st Dec) or Christmas depending on what we decide it's for.

Very mesmerising they are. Stirling engines in action!
-
The Geberit cisterns are insulated I think. Mine certainly is.

Discount Offers of the Week

Been said elsewhere on here that it doesn't get great reviews. -
My concealed Geberit is on the mains. I shall have a look now.

Nah, Design & Technology GCE, GSSEs a bit after my time. All that 1st, 3rd angle, 30 & 45 oblique and perspective drawing on the board went in and stuck. Helps I can visualise in 3D. Now if you want a pretty sketch check out @AnonymousBosch's Paddington Bear inspired style!

I suggested he beef up around the wc like this: Reckons he can't because of: & FFS all he has to do is scallop the upright around the waste and maybe thin down around the Tenbys!
-
Youre all missing a (cheap) trick! Nasty black waste pipe (or indeed white plastic)? Nice bit 'o foil tape: Brought to you by Mr Cheapseats. ?
-
8mm bolts? They're 12mm on the Geberit.
-
Do you just dot and dab it on, no mechanical fixings?
-
I was happy with my Bernstein NT2038 pan fitting the Geberit frame spot on.

Yes it was done on Jeremy's Anycubic Photon resin printer. Weird as it felt super strong and flexible. I don't think I have the option of PETG as a material to use with this printer, maybe you can with some hack? What do you reckon as the best material then for that Makita/ Ferrex battery adapter you looked at for me? Could be his first job! ? The one I've just bought is down $20 for Black Friday ?

Stage 1 Is Very Nearly Complete :)

Games room's sorted I see! ? -
He got his new wc. It fits better than the first so it must have been a moulding issue. I do hope this doesn't end in tears for him. I can't for a start believe his pan's fixings are better than the flat washer and nut that come with the Geberit! Seems the "bullet" screws onto the Geberit studs then the allen screw goes in from the side or something: Looking at the 1st picture above I don't like the way he has the uprights orientated. Then he has no stud either side of the Geberit frame.

Master bathroom gutted - suggestions needed
Onoff replied to H F's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Amazed at what they stopped out of my sons uni house deposit. It was a sh!t hole to start with. Things like "stain" - X pounds to redecorate. The garden was cat sh!t covered dirt when they moved in and they let a few weeds grow. That became "re landscape". -
Just spoke to him and he reckons he can borrow a gun now. Why not just blob some no nails on the back or whack a couple of clout nails in?
-
Blob of silicone.

Even I'm quicker than that! ?

Continuing my mate's wall hung wc adventures! He bought a no name, rimless wc. Allegedly made in the UK. I'm sure there is a name on it or the box but he says not just that it comes from "the Old Kent Road". I reckon that's just the seller/importer. He said he tried to fit the first wc pan but that the hole centres are closer than the 180mm on the Geberit frame: To me it looks like the pan could move slightly left but he reckons the studs are on the pi$$. Bottom line is he rang the company who said they've never had an issue or one come back but they've sent him an exchange unit out. Will find out today where he is with it. (Can't see that they won't all have been made on the same tooling). He made the mistake of sending the plastic inserts back with the "faulty" pan and had to get the supplier to send some more. They apparently asked if he had bought one of the frames to which he replied "the lady on the phone who I ordered it from, assured me it would fit the (Geberit) frame". All verbal nothing in writing etc but he won't see the dangers of that! I wish to Christ he'd bought the wc (Bernstein) I suggested for the extra money. He also said this one is a pain to fit. Little holes in the side for an allen key I think. Anyone else come across the hole centres being too narrow? Cheers

@Boris, don't know if you've chosen your furniture yet but these magnetic catches are magic imo. I just fitted them to a couple of cheap doors for now (oak later). As this little video shows. No chance of catching your hip or clothes as you pass:

His builder reckons it's the tool for the job. My first question was why hadn't his builder got one.

Could you create a sump/depression in the DPM to sit a (sump) pump in?
-
A mate is in the market for a first fix nail gun. Looking at a second hand Paslode IM360. Any good? Fixing cavity closers to blockwork I believe.

Thanks. Does the "program" estimate the length of filament required for the print?
