  1. If I were to run this stuff (is this convoluted aluminium duct?), through a good length of soil pipe could that act as the basis of a DIY heat exchanger? Thinking because of the undulations it would retain heat (to exchange) better than a straight through, smooth sided metal tube. Thanks
  2. Makes you a proper "Draadtrekker"! ? (Literal translation wire puller in Afrikaans).

At least it's consistent on here!

Just realised I put this in the wrong thread!

Update: My Dad's laptop. I've abandoned Linux Mint on it. Problems with keyring login on Skype. I just wanted it to boot up and for him to have a browser, Skype email and FB icons. Linux distros need to abandon all that keyring b@llocks. Gone back to Windows 7 Home Premium and stuck another 4GB of DDR3 in from his laptop before this one that had physical damage issues.

How about a solar power one where the panel and lamp are separate? This sort of thing. Mount panel outside and light inside: https://www.wish.com/m/c/5d79c1b6c6c19574ffe28255?
  7. I agree but I don't write the regs. I half recall it comes from BEMA to place the cu out of reach of children and avoid them messing with it. Pity the poor wheelchair user who wants to reset an rcd etc. Especially when other controls are recommended lower (see page 49) than 1200mm.
  8. No. Part M says 1350-1450mm to the centre line of the switches (even for wheelchair users). p22 & p49: BR_PDF_AD_M1_2015_with_2016_amendments_V3 (1).pdf
  9. Just found this to muddy the waters: https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-com-Community-feedback/Wayleave-Payments/td-p/1680783 Could you put bfo trampoline under the route? ?
  10. For heat dissipation ? Do I recall you doubling up on bus bars one time, church hall job?
  11. If you fancied a day out (Stockport, 70 miles from you) then I'm sure Dave Stansfield at SBS would show you his wares, maybe even give you a sample RCBO to show your sparks. The SBS compact RCBOs are true double pole switched in the event of a fault. Bonus if you have a TT earthing system. Reasonably priced too so you could afford to buy some spares. Just to throw a spanner in the works, Wylex was my old favourite pre the dodgy mcb scandal. I think their single module rcbo combining an AFD is great and theres no argument about compliance with the 18th. https://www.electrium.co.uk/news/wylex-launch-single-module-afdd 20190228111955_0_WY2520_Wylex_18_DCP_solutions Feb 19.pdf So much choice! ?
  12. Built like tanks Eaton stuff. I come across it from hydraulic pumps to switchgear. Bit of a pain to deal with. Vickers became part of Eaton and it's all split into different cost centres. I've a brand new, old stock Eaton metal clad board still in the box here thinking about it, still in the box. An oldie, but a goodie! Schneider, what was Merlin Gerin is good gear too. Whatever you do go for more ways than just 2 spare.
  13. Would a duct across your land be the lesser of two evils? Any option for you to dig the trench (for the cost of diesel) and maybe even supply/lay a suitable duct? You would then be able to present a viable alternative to overhead. Even go as far as to state on the lines of "in view of local bird/bat flight paths and in anticipation of future needs". Any mature trees that could potentially fall onto an overhead? You're not going to have the same in the future with other utilities wanting to dig/oversail your land?
  14. Put some bat boxes up and tell them it's a flight path!
  15. Just deny the f**kers access.
  16. I'd have gone with "Takes one to know one!" ?
  17. A bit less than that. https://www.consumerunitworld.co.uk/hager-vsr120-20-way-consumer-unit-2003-p.asp? Unpopulated of course. Looking at around £25 ea for a Hager compact RCBO new. That's £500 on top of the cu! Unless you shop around. See what your electrician thinks of SBS: https://www.sbstradesales.co.uk/ (SBS don't have a fly lead either).
  18. @AnonymousBosch, what @nod is showing is a "flush" unit. Nice an low profile with the gubbins hidden.

I imagine because you can pair them with cheap Makita battery clones.
  20. Yes and no. They are hardwired rather that the wire to light is a connector. Shouldn't be too bad to replace around the bath as I have conduits that exit outside the bathroom in an accessible cupboard so I can just pull through. In the loft though...work in progress.
  21. £4.99 for 10 on special from Screwfix. IP6X stainless deck lights.
  22. If things are that tight maybe look to skate it in on 5 little castors, one on each foot. If it needs to go in/come back out a few times. Might save a lot of cursing! Taps at the end?
  23. Wot I said!
