  1. If he has "metal" walls could he paint them black and run pex-al-pex across. Then polycarb sheet over the front. Insulate inside.
  2. Screen collectors are possibly easier than cans. Why not build one as a test bed?
  3. That South facing 21m wall cries out for a bfo Yank style collector wall imho. That's a lot of beer to get drunk! ?
  4. As Mrs Loud said "Stop right there!" @Jeremy Harris who used to frequent here had 300mm of EPS under his 100mm concrete slab. The walls and ceilings were similarly "super" insulated. He had good airtightness. He calculated 8% of his heat loss was through the slab. I'll say again he had 300mm of EPS under there.
  5. On a trading estate near me they literally sprayed the inside walls and ceiling with Icynene.
  6. I know solar thermal evacuated tubes work even on a cloudy day due to IR radiation that gets through. Must build a big test bed can heater...
  7. Have you got a big south facing wall? It's an excuse to drink copious cans of beer for a pop can heater! Some of those US sites cover entire house/workshop elevations in them.
  8. Just miss out one tile dead centre at the back perhaps? Or...I could 3D print you up a mould that you could cast a plaque with the date in or something...as a feature and have it at the front...
  9. She is always right ?
  10. Tbh I can't even conjure the enthusiasm to finish the list of unfinished jobs. Zero mojo. Can't concentrate on anything really. Maybe a shit 2021 with the couple of close deaths etc. SWMBO just said it'll soon be Spring etc. Nearer to Winter again as I see it.
  11. I'll have you know I made this today! An open fronted MDF box for a diorama my daughter's doing for her school graphics project. 3D printed corner connectors in copper (apparently) PLA! That's my part over, so FINISHED!
  12. Nope.
  13. My idea for the intumescent adhesive was to use it to butt big slabs together, with this stuff along the slab edges where they meet. Can't see how you can not grout between quarry type tiles if you use them. As for sticking them to ply I'd use an adhesive like No Nails, tile spacers then grout.
  14. Which one though, many are intumescent sealers but not all adhesives. I'd say this perhaps: https://www.toolstation.com/ac95-intumescent-fire-acoustic-sealant-adhesive/p59088?
  15. Not that tight ?
  16. Chains? Brackets at the top, chain coming down, baskets affixed to the chains.
  17. Stainless wires suspending hanging baskets?
  18. That's a first! ?
  19. Looking great! I wonder if you could just butt the slabs together with an intumescent, adhesive mastic?
  20. What about stainless steel cable trays then window boxes sitting on them. Easy to maintain. Simple pipework irrigation system...or a watering can.
  21. I'm thinking maybe Zinnser Bulls Eye 123 for the wall? Before the colour of your choice. Could you bolt some offset stainless mesh to the wall for a climbing plant screen or are you thinking terraces? FFS not ivy!
  22. If you get hold of him he'll certainly whine!
