Triassic replied to Nickfromwales's topic in General Alternative Energy Issues
Yes, those ar3 they. spotted this interesting quote from Founder of Sunamp, made we wonder if the price maybe coming down? “And now, with Sunamp’s third generation UniQ Heat Battery, production costs have been dramatically reduced – putting this game-changing technology within reach of millions of consumers. “We think we are at the same moment, in our industry, where the TV and computer display market was at the start of the switch to LCD flat-screens. “We view ourselves as a disrupter. To us, the traditional water cylinder is the bulky old CRT (cathode ray tube) television. The UniQ heat battery is the LCD at-panel at the moment when, ‘whoosh’, the price tumbled and no-one wanted a CRT anymore.” -

Its designed to have a large surface water base, through which the water is discharge slowly, under the tank is made up of layers of stone and sand to encourage the slow percolation into the underlying strat. search attenuation tank for better details. got too rush!

Is there any benefit to two supplies into one house?
Triassic replied to Nick1c's topic in Electrics - Other
We have two overhead wires but only one 240v supply. I’m sure the overhead wires are live and neutral. -
I use a Chinagraph pencil.

According to Sunamp a local partner has been appointed, EcoPartners. I’ll have to look them up! I wonder how much experience they have? -
Replacement for a Night Storage Heater
Triassic replied to Triassic's topic in Other Heating Systems
It's about 10 years old, so no asbestos! At the age of 87 my father has a bit of a devil may care attitude to life!! -
My father tells me one of his night storage heaters is broken, he’s had it in bits and found the fault and fixed it, however, the insulation board to the front of the heater has crumbled and we can’t find any spares to replace it. So the question is, what to replace the old night storage heater with? As he’s 87 I’m minded to replace it like for like. It’s a 2.2kw Creda. Any night storage heater experts out there who can recommend a replacement?

Do we still have a training scheme in the UK? I very very rairly see an apprentice. There was a leaflet pinned up on the trade side at Screwfix from a first year apprentice looking for someone to take him on. I asked what the score was and was told his original employer had decided it was too much trouble keeping him on into his second and third year.

MAJOR electrical issues in 5 year old house - any ideas?
Triassic replied to jack's topic in Consumer Units, RCDs, MCBOs
Do you actually need three phase, or is this a throwback to a time when ASHPs had to have s 3 phases supply due to high start loads? If the ASHP I’d fried, maybe it’s time to change it for an inverter based unit!? -

What was the weather like on the day of these events, electrical storm and lightning by any chance? -
If your wondering what it is, here is an example https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Convoy+Premio&client=safari&hl=en-gb&prmd=insv&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi6qs_s4_bdAhUKV8AKHbw6CYQQ_AUIESgB&biw=1024&bih=723#imgrc=BoDVFpti5Qus_M

If the house is well insulated as you say, I wouldn’t install radiators in the bedrooms, they could be a waste of money. Our house is well insulated and my wife left the bedroom door open all day, consequently it was the same temperaure as the rest of the house. We had to close the bedroom door and open the bedroom windows to cool it down to get if to a cooler temperature for sleeping.

It’s all down to training, run a re-education program, if each individual places their laundry in the laundry room it gets washed, if an individual places their laundry under their bed, on the floor, at the bottom of the stairs it gets ignored.

Maybe apply some clear anti-slip tape to the nose of each tread. https://www.seton.co.uk/clear-anti-slip-tape.html?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1Ybd2eLz3QIVaLvtCh1aGQM1EAQYASABEgKUbPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#CLEAR4 -

I look forward to reading your blog entry, having read dozens (far too many) posts on here, I’ve come to the conclusion that your current set up is probably the way I’ll go. The only thing I need to finalise is the sizing of the kit, to suit a 4 bed home, with 4 bathrooms. Could you also address how cooling works in the new set up, as I’m still not sure about the plumbing layout to active this. Thanks.

Plastic bullnose window cills - any one got them?
Triassic replied to readiescards's topic in General Joinery
I used ofcuts of Indian slate paving slabs as window cills.looked very good. if you want something thinner then use 12mm thick natural stone. Your local stone supplier might have some off cuts or end of line sample you could have for cheap. Don’t do as my self Build neighbour did, he got some off cuts free, then wanted them cut to size, bevelled and polished and then grumbled when he got bill. -
I’m sure I read somewhere that although you have a Eltron Sible in-line heater, it’s never been usd? Is that correct?

+1 to that suggestion. I find a diagram a lot easier to understand. We need more diagrams!
