I was also told you can add software to the dongle to access a wider range of content. Not sure how, but worth considering

Brexit and procurement of joinery from Europe
Triassic replied to gravelld's topic in Windows & Glazing
I’m planning to buy a German kitchen, having asked the Brexit question of a couple of suppliers, all I got was blank looks. The reality is no one knows! -
I'm looking at my kitchen design and it includes a recirculating downdraught extractor, located to the rear of the hob, which itself is located in the island unit. As we're planning an airtight, energy efficient home, we'll be having a MVHR system, Am I correct to assume that the carbon filters in the very expensive down draught fan will remove the odours etc and the MVHR system will deal with the fresh air side of things. I'm left wondering what the extractor adds, other than huge cost (£1,150). Especially when we have a steam oven and a microwave emitting cooking vapours and these don't have any form of carbon filtration or air extract!

Are you using the James Hardie cement weather board?
-
Did you ever find those photos?

If you look at the car park waterproofing link it looks like some of their systems use resin bonded decorative stone as the top coat. Maybe you could finish the parking area with something nice looking, rather than black rubber.
-
Thinking out of the box. Maybe talk to a car park waterproofing company and ask how they do it? https://www.tremco-europe.com/en_GB/home/download/9400/download.html http://www.lrwa.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/LRWA-Car-Park-Code-of-Practice.pdf

I’ve just read the whole thread and realise what a big problem you’ve got! You’re right, the whole lots got to come out and be re-done. As Jeremy says you need a good craftsman with an eye for detail. Have you talked to the EDOM manufacturer, maybe they have a technical expert who could advise on what needs to be done and who would be best to do it.
-
It’s well worth trying, it could save you the cost of ripping the original stuff up, When you find the leak it could be repaired, then all you need to do is sort out some of the poor detailing.

I think this may help https://www.google.com/search?q=window+installation+icf+wall&client=firefox-b&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjSxPrt4pLeAhUGJcAKHT27AI8Q_AUIEygD&biw=1024&bih=648

Sorry, I'm late to this particular party. Do you have a leak? If so, have you considered using an electronic leak detector? I've used them in the past and they do work! http://www.singleply.co.uk/electronic-leak-detection-for-roofs-advice-for-architects/

Pour the concrete and us tamping guides set to be high at one end, to create a fall to the other end.

I had a very large raised concrete reservoir at work, that didn't leak

Well, I'm back from my meeting with the Kitchen company sales guy. I went through the quote line by line and within ten minutes I'd pointed out well over £1000 of saving for the appliances, sink and accessories when comparing their prices with reputable online companies. He was adamant that their price for the quartz worktops could not be beaten until I shared a quote from a company I have an account with, so there we had another £450 saving. He's now gone away to talk to the company director about their best price on the kitchen units. I think he got the message, I'm neither green nor cabbage looking! Let's see where we end up!
-
Wish me luck! I’m off to negotiate on the cost of the kitchen!

I find “door stepping” works well, find out where he lives and call round for a chat and a coffee! I’ve found it works wonders.

The Wakeflex is an EDPM/Ali composite lead replacement product. There are tube videos on how to use it, very informative and easy to use.

Render / cladding quotes a bit of a shock
Triassic replied to Weebles's topic in General Construction Issues
When people mention Aquapanel, do they mean the foam filled cement faced panel or are we talking at the solid magnesium oxide panel? I like the idea of using the lighter foam filled panel as it’s easier to handle, especially at height on a scaffolding. -
I visited the trade plumbing exhibition in Manchester today, mainly to see the Sunamp stand and talk to ASHP and UVC and plumbing suppliers. One ASHP company we’re displaying a series of non-inverter heat pumps, mainly in sizes below 9kw. I asked why they’d gone down the direct drive route, they said that if connected to a suitable heat dump, such as a Sunamp or Water cylinder then an inverter wasn’t required. What do you think?

Any suggestions as to suppliers of the powder coated Ali?

OI like the look of the Kytun dry verge, has anyone used the Kytun (or similar) continuous slate soakers. Are they a better alternative to lead?
-
It's time to start thinking about bargeboards and soffits for the new build. I've looked at charcol plastic, which looks fine against our grey slate roof. I'm after something I can fit and forget, I don't want to go up a double extension ladder painting bargeboards! I was wondering if there are alternatives I should be looking at? As ever price is a consideration, I could also do with suggestions about suppliers, as there is a limited choice locally, its either Eurocel or the builders merchants!

Don’t forget to save all the cable, copper pipe and other scrap metal, it’s worth a lot of money!
