Having looked over the Building Regulation plans produced by my Architect, I'm confused as to what type of plasterboard I should be used where, as the blurb on the plans doesn't go into any detail? Is there any particular Building Regulation rule I should be following, or it as simple as use 12mm throughout?

I've noticed that Armaflex comes in different wall thicknesses. Which one would be appropriate for use inside a highly insulated house?

I was impressed with the HILTI DX460, Firing bolt fixings into steel on site today!

So the next question is, where can I get rolls of 10 and 15mm pipe insulation at a reasonable price?

Is condensation on cold pipes likely to be an issue?

I'm also looking at using 10mm to the sinks (hot and cold) in the bathrooms and 10mm to all toilets. I've used 10mm to toilets in the past and the fill rate has been fine.

I'm about to start 1st fix plumbing and wondered if I should be lagging all the pipes, both hot and cold? I also recall someone posting about using pre-lagged 15mm barrier pipe, has anyone used it and is it more cost effective? Who is the supplier? Manifolds - Which one is the best and most competitively priced?

On the subject of Icynene. I have a basement and the engineered metal web joists sit on a ledge forming part of the reinforced concrete basement wall. The level of insulation at this point is poor, so i was considering if sprayed lcynene between the beams, encasing the beam ends, would work?

I’ve got the name and email address of the technical support person if you need it, PM me for it. -
Luckily I have a tame electrician who can sort out the installation of the electrical stuff.

I’ll have a look at using micr inviters, the sun is on the south facing roof far longer than the west, so there should be some advantage to an uneven split of panels. Is there any particular make of micro inverters that are bst?
-
I’ve got a 4kw system on order. My original plan was to split them equally over two roofs, however, having tracked the sun over the last few weeks, and considering that the south facing roof is larger than the west facing roof, if was wondering if there would be any problem in putting more panels on the south facing and less on the west.

If you have a pile of Euro pallets take them in your trailer to the local pallet yard, their worth £5 each, the ordinary ones are £3 each. Then use the money to buy a real staircase. -
I see in the news that the housing market outlook worst 'for 20 years' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46891187 Is this a good or bad thing and what effect will it have on the self build market?

How would you go about sizing such an item?

Our new build build is at the top of the hill, the rest of the village is below us. Our water pressure and flow is quite low, the standing pressure is about 2bar, however when we open the kitchen tap in our temporary home the amount of water from the bathroom tap drops to a trickle. As part of the site preparation we installed a new 63mm alkatheme supply to the site. How are we best addressing this issue? A pump maybe? Or a tank and a Pump?

Just ordered the Stanley staplers, £15.49 inc delivery.

I use strips of old carpet, laid over the grass. Works a treat. Ps, the man made stuff is best! I use six inch nails to hold it in place.
-
Is for general stapling of membranes and other stuff, like fixing the ufh spreader plates in place.
-
Whilst our planning application was in process there were three changes of staff, i’d chase them as it may be sat on someone desk in the “to do” pile!
-
I usually fit a service valve below the tap and close this until I have the desired flow rate.

Google said... Positive placement nailers use either the nail itself (to find the hole in the hardware) or a probe attached to the tip of the nosepiece. The article in which I found this was dealing with fixing joist hangers.

I need a staple gun for my new build. In the past I’ve had a hand operated one which didn’t preform well. Can anyone recommend a make/ model which they’ve found to be reliable and easy to use?

My build starts this week. So I need to actually buy the CCTV system. Has CCTV technology changed/ moved on, in the last 14 months? i see lots of ads for stand alone, plug in, WiFi cameras linked to apps. Are they any good?
