    Gate Pillars

You mentioned leaving space between bricks and steel as it exits the pillars in case of deflection, if you infill the pillars you loose the separation between steel and brick. I would not infill them.
  2. Didn’t it come with a connector/isolater block?. What do the instructions say?. Ours came with an incoming cable block.

    Chainsaw

My neighbour is a tree surgeon and like @scottishjohn he says as soon as it’s a little dull, a couple of strokes on each tooth and it’s as good as new again.
  4. I question that, if it was a twist it would surely pull free!!!. The bobbin hook loops into the needle thread when the tensioner creates a space fir it. (How the hell did a building forum turn into a sewing forum ???). It must be a Sunday during lockdown, not enough to do.

  6. I have a sewing machine and it’s very satisfying to use (not used it in ages tho!). As an avid DIYer building/constructing)inventing anything I find very satisfying. Regards planning I have been pondering on the landscaping fir months, fencing, chickens, lawn, garden, trees, drive. ???? @JFDIY that was a very neat solution.
  7. Well done, onwards and upwards now you can crack on ?.
  8. and me, BC agreed piped into ditch which would deal with local rainwater anyway .
  9. I really do like eyebrow dormers but they don’t give maximum use of space.
  10. I don’t like flat roofs generally but have done quite a few GRP roofs and never had a problem, bite the bullet, do it properly, re deck with GRP sealed sheets and GRP the joins etc when fitted, you won’t regret it.
  11. Welcome, an addition to our wealth of knowledge ?
  12. I totally agree, my planning fight ended with me taking it to the Secretary of State for an appeal and won hands down, the planners even had a ticking off fir not abiding with their own policies, wasted two years of my life and ££££.? The planner even told me if I took it to appeal I would probably win!!,!,! Beggars belief.
  13. then your SE should confirm this (it’s part of his job!!!)
  14. I went with ASHP and unvented DHW tank as when deciding my setup people were having problems setting sunamp,s up. I must confess I am a Luddite so I like simplicity. Immersion in DHW tank is backup . Regarding losses from the DHW tank, my airing cupboard is barely above room temp and any escaping heat helps heat the house, apart from last month (hottest month on record) we need a little heat so I do not consider it “wasted”. If I had PV I would simply dump excess into the DHW tank before due its top up from the ASHP.
  15. right up to the point when it does an auto update and no longer works,!!,,??????
  16. I come from Bristol!!,!, but much prefer it down here now.
  17. or Devon, can’t stand this modern techno stuff, give me a 60year old tractor to mend any day. ?????
  18. I must confess I used Howdens kitchens mostly when I was a fitter, nearly all stuff in stock and never a problem swapping damaged stuff, one customer insisted on Wickes but it took weeks to get replacements fir damaged or wrongly delivered bits which meant endless returns to site which cocked up my diary for other work!
  19. This is one of the reasons I don’t like dry lining!!!!
  20. If they are fitted properly, yes they should close “flat”, usually with something like a magnetic catch in the middle to keep the hinge part in contact with the door stop. It’s something like door handles that would stop them opening “flat”.
  21. Cracking job, well done, yes Oak is expensive (I know I made a dining table and got the oak at trade price but still more than I expected)
  22. stop changing your name, I can’t keep up anonyrecoveringbutteracedemic ?
  23. But there is no A. or. B dimension (size of hole in ceiling) ?
