Even lead In storm conditions can lift but generally heavier so less likely, I would want to stick any rubber membrane down if it were me, glad your roofer is a “good bloke” ?

Airtight walls & fixing stuff to them
joe90 replied to WWilts's topic in New House & Self Build Design
Yes and it was good, can’t remember the actually figure but the tester had never seen one that good (but he normally did estate houses ?) certainly below 3, my only leaks were around windows where timber had shrunk slightly (now rectified) and around the woodburner air duct. Definitely ? -

I never understood why you need a parge coat if you go wet plaster, I had my builder render inside with cement/sand then wet final coat of plaster, can hang anything from it, really solid (and only parged between floors where plaster not applied.) -
No, I said the new water based stuff was crap (IMO) but the old stuff is very good (and freely available).
-
I am afraid a disagree . Yes the new water based stuff is pants but the old stuff is still as good as was and I use it a lot on outdoor tractor stuff. I will give this galvafroid a go as well ?

I have a small water heater above my sink in the garage so I don’t have to wash my hands in cold water, never thought about frost protection and it’s not been a problem (so far ?).

We have just had our power restored, been off since Friday night, a large tree landed on the small substation ?♂️ -
Well I am not even a plumber and I fitted mine (and I can read) , apart from a recent problem (which was my fault) it works fine.

joe90 replied to Adsibob's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
That’s interesting, my 20’ container is made from Corten steel and is painted ?♂️ (and not rusty!) -
Do you intend to put a motor vehicle In it?, if not don’t call it a garage, however workshops are not included in VAT return fir new builds!!!,!

Yes blowing a Holley down here, where I am is windy normally, very flat from the coast only a couple of miles away, I tied the garden furniture down last night ?♂️(I think @SteamyTea has been blown away). -
Problems with Baumit.com thin coat render system - part 3.
joe90 replied to ProDave's topic in Plastering & Rendering
I tend to agree, piss them off enough and they will respond, nobody likes bad publicity. -
I know nothing of weather compensating but you may have seen my problem with my ASHP / buffer problem. I ran the ASHP to the coil within the buffer then the buffer to the UFH manifold. The coil could not keep up with heat demand so I had to disconnect the coil and use the buffer across the flow and return to the UFH. All is well now

Ha, can’t find it now ? but I read somewhere with a cold loft (draughty) the laying of paper between layers of insulation cuts down the “washing” effect robbing heat. Perhaps I was dreaming (I am old?).
-
Taking the old insulation out is a filthy job, I would be tempted to leave it there and put you’re new insulation on top, to make it more efficient you need to put wax paper between layers and in the insulation in opposite directions.

When I laid my drain pipe I taped a spacer block one end (see @Russell griffiths post above for measurement) of my long spirit level so when the bubble said level the pipe sloped correctly ?

And we know which one he is ????

Boiler temperature for UFH and hot water cylinder
joe90 replied to Rob1992's topic in General Plumbing
I have no legionella cycle on my ASHP install, with mains water and a sealed system it’s the general consensus here it’s not required. -
Might be the best thing, get it in and enjoy it ASAP ?

Ratchet straps are a good idea, better safe than sorry.
-
Sorry, just looked, they are 20a double pole switches fused at the board. (My lecky was good).
-
My immersions are run from individual fused spurs radial from the fuse board.

Been there , done that.
