So you should, at least he is trying (very 🤣) and with the help of those (some) here has made a good job of it, we are not all confident with DIY but he has got there (nearly).

Hairline cracks are normal in a new build, timber shrinking and settling. Yes my roof bangs a little after a hot day when timbers shrink, some do more than others.

Low first floor window - solution needed
joe90 replied to Paene Finitur's topic in Building Regulations
Typical non consistencies with building control officers. -
As said above the kick board is your only problem and you may need to fabricate your own, however chipboard kick boards are prone to damp from floor cleaning if not sealed properly. If you have built in appliances (dishwasher) you may need to jack these up as well. (Paving slabs sound like a good idea).

That’s good to hear, I like equality 👍

Jerry-rig an MVHR unit - how?
joe90 replied to Dreadnaught's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Wood? I built a stand from 2”x2” timber to mount my buffer tank on at about 800mm and that weighs far more than an MVHR. any slight “give” in timber will also absorb vibration 🤔 -
Cost. Fabrication vs bought 🤷‍♂️

Air Source Heat Pump - general question
joe90 replied to 0llie's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
@Marvin that’s very interesting and makes sense, as I plan to time mine I need to find out my parasitic load and manufacturers instructions, well done 👍 -
Jerry-rig an MVHR unit - how?
joe90 replied to Dreadnaught's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
How long would it take to mount it properly in the first place? Is it really worth a temp job to have to do it again? I hung mine from the roof I beams in the loft, so that any noise generated did not transmit to the ceilings and that works very well. -
We have all been there, with so much going on fir a full build it’s difficult to focus on everything, hindsight is a wonderful thing 🤷‍♂️

Air Source Heat Pump - general question

Great, not top of my priority list at the mo but perhaps at a later date 👍 -
Air Source Heat Pump - general question

I took the clamp off recently as had to work on the CU, but can put it back on I guess, but will it tell the difference from other stuff (STP)? -
Air Source Heat Pump - general question
joe90 replied to 0llie's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Never checked, it’s on my “to do list”, I only have a 13 amp plug in monitor and the unit is wired direct to the CU so without a clamp devise not sure how to monitor it 🤔 -
Air Source Heat Pump - general question
joe90 replied to 0llie's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Ooh er, didn’t realise this so I must check my spec on my Cartier unit! -
Just what I was going to suggest, and allows water to run away

Just visiting my brother and thought I would show @zoot some photos of the posts/rail etc. ( still not finished the post tops yet).

ASHP 'Service' - what exactly are they doing?
joe90 replied to gc100's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
That’s worth something I guess, mind you i bought mine on Ebay dead cheap, installed it myself so till it stops working I will leave it alone, I don’t ever get the fridge freezer serviced 🤷‍♂️ -
I agree.
-
Or an automatic, most modern cars have auto handbrakes nowadays, perhaps SHE could buy herself a new car.
-
I agree with all the above points, people like this give builders a bad name, totally unacceptable
-
So her fault as much as yours (but your not complaining?) So do you, are you complaining? as she is the one with the problem perhaps you could ask what SHE is going to do about it? (I firmly believe in equality and that covers EVERYTHING)

From another source….. Carbon blacks protect the polymer from UV degradation, act as a black pigment and improve the conductivity of the plastic. Carbon blacks also increase the performance of the plastic by enhancing the abrasion resistance, modulus, tear and tensile strength.
-
“Carbon black is a strong, effective, and very common blocker for outdoor applications, blocking against UV rays ” from https://www.fastradius.com/resources/top-uv-resistant-plastics/
-
That would be my call, if the outside is not changed then who would know? why structural calcs? Crack on with a new lintel over double door if reqd. If you need/want to tell your neighbour then just say it’s temporary 🤷‍♂️
