New series of Grand Designs 31st August 2022

+1 to what @ProDave says above, frankly I thought it was ugly and vastly overpriced because of its complicated shape and subsequent problems. Why should it be allowed over “housing required”? Yes the planning system is broken, we are short of housing. Locals (in rural areas) cannot afford to buy, why not give planning for a couple/few “affordable” (read sensible) houses that are afforded by young/locals . -

Exactly what I did, hung from roof I beams and on rubber feet. This was done to stop any noise and vibration through the bedroom ceilings and it works very well, no noise at all apart from a little air noise from terminals when on boost. -

Shame he missed the perps??? -
I agree and although I prefer GRP it still has to laid properly hence my opinion earlier about a company that specialises in GRP.

Is this then nor allowed?.. https://www.flexifluedirect.com/5-rockwool-insulation.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw4c-ZBhAEEiwAZ105RcSDYqbzAAfL1xVciupo02727p2i-DIdJbWEfjKBOf0lAwmlxVx81RoCv6UQAvD_Bw

I can’t find the proper info on this but if I remember correctly you won’t need pillars for a hollow 9” wide block wall, you might not either fir a 6 inch? -
If you do go with GRP use a roofer that specialises in that material

Brick and inner skin block or brick and inner skin Timber frame

There is a lot of controversy whether this type of insulation is as good as advertised. I have used it on budget loft conversions I have done a few years ago but not convinced I would use it on mine 🤔 -

It was part of a house build as well so no cost just fir the workshop I am afraid, plus it was 4 years ago and costs have risen since then. -

Piers fir a single skin wall are required every 3m so you would need one in each of your 4m walls, or you could place them to match windows or doors. -
I agree, I have done quite a few GRP roofs and really like the method and product but it must be done in very dry conditions and accurately with the mix, not something you can bodge (and get away with). Look in any harbour and you will see very many old fibreglass boats still floating 🤔🤷♂️.

Oh I don’t know, mine is steep enough for slate, 2.5m eaves and 4m fir dual slope roof ridge 🤔 “I also want it to have a pitch roof.” Mono or dual? And it’s only 4m ! -
If you’re making your build airtight then no critters will get in anyway???, I have never heard of ants or anything else in poly insulation.

I am not brave enough to ask 😱

Mine is brick and block and very pleased with it and worked out cheap per sq m compared to most. -

Depends on what roofing materials, tiles, slates, felt, GRP?
