  1. What I tend to do is line it with black plastic, drill some 50mm holes in the wood, puncture the plastic lining in the middle of this hole, put a piece of old crock over the hole to stop soil escaping, this keeps the water away from the wood as much as possible. Another choice of wood is from old pallets, not sure what “breed” the wood is but lasts ages outside and great for making compost heaps.
  2. Tanalised sawn timber, 4x1 or 6x1. I have made quiet a few similar, should last 10years (if lined properly).
  3. Interesting article (not read or understood it all) I also read that the EU recognised existing corruption in the Ukraine when considering their EU membership. However I believe the ownership of the land relating to foreign companies is a lesser evil than invasion and destruction by Putin.
  4. Yes, if your insulation is up to a decent level as well.
  5. I think that’s one and the same, most western free nations are trying to help another free nation from aggression and invasion, despite Putin alleging aggression from the west financially it’s simply non military support. The Ukrainians voted to be free of the old USSR.
  6. You are far better adding insulation to the existing , creating a warm roof far more tricky to get right.
  7. Energy Used 296.0 kWh @ 27.05p/kWh 28 days @ 48.91p/day £80.07 £13.69 Loyal Octopus 28 days @ 13.15p/day -£3.69‡
  8. Just had my lecky bill fir sept, all electric (apart from bottled gas for hob) £94.
  9. Yes. Yes (IMO)
  10. I think 4” is too chunky 🤷‍♂️ (Are you aware it has to be 1.1m high? )
  11. Although it says quiet, how quiet is 58dbA? How noisy is 58 dBA? 0 dB is considered the threshold of human hearing and 120-140 dB is considered the threshold of pain. That means a sound so powerful, it will make your ears hurt. 60 decibels is right in the middle of this range between no sound at all and painfully intense sound. 60 dB is the equivalent of a normal conversation level.
  12. +1 . as said above you will be removing a door (from 4 to 3) to exit out the back and still 2 to exit at the front. More light will enter the playroom because of you're roof light. 🤷‍♂️
  13. At one point they were one of the worlds biggest supplier of tin, then copper, then arsenic, then China clay .
  14. I could not find a “jealous emoji”
  15. Definitely not, silly is not asking. Usually the outlets do the 90’ themselves, however I made my own (another avid DIYer, and tight!).
  16. Corneal?. Perhaps open up those old tin mines and make cornwall great again 🤔
  17. Bung it on EBay and if BT turn up say it was already collected 👀
  18. Forecast by whom? Go back to them with your query?
  19. Well I lost a chisel in my brothers wall cavity when working on it in the 70,s, could not believe my luck when I found it again in the 00,s when breaking into the cavity at floor level doing other work 👀
  20. I had a few of these, called the guy back and quickly rectified, could find no cause but the guy said it sometimes happens. @nod will know better 👍
  21. That’s been said since the 60,s
  22. Yes I get it’s not cantilevered but perhaps “bending” is a better word fir what I mean!. Two people stood on the deck next to the wall 🤔. M12 sounds much better, can you get the coach bolts long enough for what you want? Or Get M12 threaded stainless rod welded to the coachbolt 🤷‍♂️. edit, I am OCD and tend to over engineer stuff 😎
  23. Well a local solar farm has just won at judicial review, 40+ acres of grade 3 land despite gov rules on using good farmland ?
  24. Gosh that’s a challenge, my thoughts are that that’s a lot of leverage over the distance. My initial thoughts are could you cut through the EWI and fit a timber the same depth as the ring beam, yes I know it would be a thermal bridge but timber is not that bad!!, probably not as bad as the aluminium? 🤔
