  1. Installers will travel, if the money is right,. End off 2015 beginning 2016 I was doing over 2000 miles a week before the FIT ran out,!
  2. I totally agree with you @Construction Channel The supplier fkd up big style, And I hope it gets resolved properly, but I don't think it will be easy, They sent what was ordered, albeit totally different to what the customer thought they were getting, I gave up buying paint by ral codes a long time ago and resorted to getting it mixed to match a provided by me sample, The same with tyres, buy a bunch of tyres from the same batch, you assume they will match, chances are you will not get a matching set, would only ever buy them in person with a durometer, My point being, I wouldn't buy something crucial on a seller's word alone without witnessing it in person.
  3. I think it's not going to be easy to prove that the seller applied that sticker to that sample. And that common sense didn't apply when that sample is clearly not grey of any description.
  4. I think you're just misunderstood,
  5. By access I should have said, Other trades getting in the way/waiting times for other trades to (for example) board between 1st and 2nd fix, Going blind, you can do a 'good' 4bed TF for £6k , but, I have seen some where upon getting a price the client suddenly decides the lights they now want are over a grand cost difference alone, never mind the extra labour involved.
  6. Yes. Both include materials and labour, the price difference would be things like LED lighting , and quality and quantity thereof, data points, or lack off, etc. Number of sockets, electric showers, type of wall construction , access to site , lots of variables.
  7. To say I'd be more than unhappy with that would be a pretty big understatement, even if it was a £50k house, Standards are standards, workmanship and pride in the job says a lot about whoever done that.!
  8. Its 'free' power Its basically stealing a miniscule amount of current from somewhere else, I don't even think you could measure it on a normal clamp meter, you'd need a mA clamp, (leakage clamp) to get any measurement.
  9. As @JSHarris says, they have enough disclaimers on the label The other aspect is, I think you'd be hard pushed to even prove that it was them that had put that label on that sample, The sample is obviously not any version of grey whatsoever.
  10. 2) That's just induced, see my earlier post,
  11. Are they proper dimmable LEDs? Ate they mains or elv,? if elv are they proper drivers or simple transformers, are they dimmable? Is it the proper type of dimmer,? Leading edge or trailing edge,? As above, what's the minimum loading on the dimmer, lots are 20 or 40w minimum, that can be quite a few LEDs all maxed out,!
  12. You can also get F-M adapters that go from small size internal dia to larger size ext dia, so you could go from a 20mm hole to a 50mm hole.
  13. Go for it, Anyone that visits us uses the back door, Some found it weird at first, but its always been the way for me, and my missus soon got used to it, and now she says it would be funny if it was any other way. Its your house, as has been said, do it the way it makes you happy.
  14. Its a very common problem, I have a light in my kitchen that flickers for a few seconds when they are turned off, bank of 6, Fitting a snubber would be the usual fix, I just have not got round to doing mine yet, its only been 8 years.! Its merely an induced voltage, and as LED uses so little current its enough to make it glow, Is it on a 2way switch,? If so, occasionally switching the common Line to sit beside the cpc (if its 3core) sometimes cures it.
  15. I have a small (compared to you guys) workshop/cave, 12'x8' And have 15 d/skts in it 5 and 2 sfs behind workbench, 3 in front, 4 down one side, 3 on other side, Plus a 16A commando, and a d/skt and 16a commando outside,
  16. A cover all bases, Ballsally champagne : 2 litre Strongbow (white lightning is a cheap substitute) 1 litre Buckfast Mix, and drink, For the more hardened drinker we have Lurgan Champagne : 2 x 1 litre Buckfast Open, and drink, Hangover cure : repeat as above,
  17. I was able to see Slemish from my bedroom window as a kid.
  18. £100 less, does that take into account your time,?
  19. As a bit of a cheap no hassle fix for tour shower flow issue, Have you tried an ECOflow (iirc) showerhead ,? (I think Mira make them) They obviously can't increase the flow rate, but they sort of bleed air into the stream and make it 'feel' as if there is more water coming through as it is now in droplets rather than a steady stream. I fitted one on my mothers (very poor flow mixer) shower and it feels so much better. IMO, the heads that come with almost every shower should be thrown out and a decent one fitted. We currently have a Mira Flex electric shower and most in the house have it set at half flow rate to keep the pressure down a bit, and never above 60% on the temp as its so hot,
  20. Mmm, If you have the app store on it then it's not degoogled, But I know what you mean, You can't really completely degoogle most of the mainstream android devices, unless you 'hard root' , not soft root them. Unless you go off field and get some of the, out there , Asian offerings, Blackphone being one, Blackview being another, Or get a Nexus and run pure *nix on it,
  21. OK, so then the only option is for you, yourself to actually purchase a substantial amount of the materials,? Which, I suppose, If you have contracted someone to do a turnkey, you don't want the hassle of, Well, when did hmrc ever make anything easy,?
  22. But surely if you had needed it , he 'could' have charged you the vat on the materials and let you claim that back yourself,? I don't honestly know, but surely there must be some way of doing it.
  23. My BiL got a price for a steel frame cladded and insulated iro 8K , erected, if he had base and 600mm dwarf wall built, south down in NI. iirc,
  24. First off, I'm legal terms you don't have free rein, You are still connecting to the DNO so your install needs to meet their requirements, And EAWR, @ProDave solution is the way to go, Get an electrician onboard, he can spec what cable he wants, where it wants it run etc, take a load of pictures for him if he can't get back before you board, Should be good to go then. If you are going to 2nd fix, don't screw anything back, he will probably want to unscrew mostly everything anyway. fwiw, I'm in the middle of a court case atm where a home owner got an 'electrician' to rewire their house, he has refused to issue an EIC without a further £600 payment, and he is unable to PartP notify it (not applicable to you, I know) , the house is a mess BTW, trading standards are involved, as are a few other statutory bodies. The EIC is the biggie, the DNO have threatened to cut off the supply to the house to until they receive a copy of it, as apparently they could be liable for supplying an unsafe installation, As it stands, the installers competence is being called into question, and he has to prove otherwise.
