Thanks for the replies folks. The timber frame guys are saying they normally allow 20mm which should be fine tbh as we are having vinyl throughout most of the house which is around 5mm. That will leave 15mm for airflow.

Our timber frame manufacturer has emailed today to ask about our door gaps for our airflow requirements. Is there a standard size for this for mvhr? Thanks in advance.

@ryder72 Would you say these are a better option that an induction hob with pop up downdraft extractor? I really need to make a choice early to get ducting in place before the slab pour.

When we were renovating our last house I had been to toolstation to pick an new radiator for one of the bedrooms. Drove home and took it out the packaging ready to start fitting it, only to discover that the radiator side panel had a small ding in it. Being a 1 hour round trip to exchange I considered if I could maybe persuade the small ding out but came to the conclusion that as it was just bought it should be perfect. So I then jumped into the wife's car and rushed down to exchange it........................in my mad rush (not breaking any speeding laws here btw) I thought I could make it through an amber light but the car in front decided otherwise!! Needless to say my wifes car had a nice dent in it as did the car in front............although our replacement radiator was dent fee

I have always found ikea customer service to be great. When we fitted one of their kitchens in our last house we were running late with getting the gas pipe moved and some other plumbing stuff, so they agreed to store the kitchen until we were ready for delivery for no extra charge. Also when the worktop turned up I noticed a scratch at one end, so called up to advise. They requested I take some pictures and send them over. They got back to us and agreed to give us £200 gift vouchers. As it turned my friend ended up cutting the scratched part off anyway as the worktop was ordered a bit longer than needed.......result

Interested to here the replies on this as its crossed my mind not to bother with warranty either. We will have a sizeable mortgage once complete to don't want to be limited to certain lenders when we come to remortgage.

Thanks for that @jamiehamy Our plot is made up ground so hopefully won't need a machine as big as 30t but nice to get a ballpark.

Does this include getting rid of your spoil? Or are you using what's excavated elsewhere? I'm looking at excavation of roughly the same amount for our founds and trying to get some prices together.

The quote hasn't included tile battens but the price came back as £1700 for supply and install of roof felt and fly batten...........so just a guess at £3k for tile battens as to be honest.

Yes I did think that this might be the case. I just need to see if spending the extra £3k for battens and counter battens is going to be worthwhile in terms of payback from the panels.

I used JG speed fit when redoing a bathroom in our old house. Great stuff I found. Didn't have any leaks and also the speed fit pipe is marked so you know if the fitting is fully seated correctly. Even replaced a few old weeping compression joints with the stuff and I have no complaints. Very easy to use and having done a kitchen many years ago using copper and compression joints I would use the speedfit stuff again. Heard of a few folk who have had issues with the cheaper grey coloured (not sure of brand) fittings though.

Is the advantage for performance of the panels or something else? Not having battens and counter battens seems to be bringing the timber frame package down by about £3k.
