no - AAA foam is preferred method as in aircraft fire engines but the sprinkler system should stop it getting to a point where petrol is running everywhere sprinkler systems is what they use for underground car parks
-
I think that is a distortion --if you got a workshop with vehilces~+oil +fuel etc a sprinkler system would be the best way to stop it getting out of control water damage in a worshop!!!-that would be nothing as all surfaces will be hard ones and surely you would have both an alarm as well as sprinklers
-
I suspect your summation of the software is coorect--lot easier just to do a clock/number of days base protcol

clarification from black pipe supplier yes it is suitable for potable water ,but it has to be WRAS approved to connect direct to water mains so for a private supply it is ok so blue 12.5 bar to tank from meter ,then from other side of tank in pump house black 16 bar , its then my own supply ,maybe change it to blue 12.5 for the last 100m --just to stop any questions when BC man sees it at house end - doubt he will want to walk down 450ft to look at other end anyway .LO

typical tight highlnder LOL

the mitsubishi system i has and anti baceriaa function built in and every now and then it lifts water temp high to kill anything without nay input from me
-
there are simple solutions already made by mitsubishi and others where the heat pump for UFh and the tank for DHW and all pumps etc are supplied as a complete package will probably be more expensive than buying it in bits --but If t you are not really up to speed with these things its a simple solution . i went that way when going ASHP +rhi --works great and if a problem only one man to speak to all the pumps 3 of them and controls are mounted on the pre plumbed cylinder --so connections to use are very simple wi-fi control etc etc
-
no it cannot be used like a combi boiler yes you do need a cylinder if using ashp for water heating bigger cylinder -- thats a relative term --bigger than what ?
-
correct the eps in those systems is purly insulation and a former for the concrete -no structural value once concrete is poured. but whatever system you use you have to have an insulation layer between concrete and UFH -or you will be making a radiator out of the floor structure to heat down stairs workshop-very expensive to run if worried about fire below then maybe you should be fitting sprinkler system what ever system you use simple to do and can run on mains watrer pressure
-
I,m sure this will be covered in the converstion with the drilling men -- there are 3lb+ trout in it and lots of roach - -so it can,t be that bad and of course i willl get the water tested at some point. a 6acre pond which has depths to 50ft ,so i,m assured by quarry men that used to work there, again we will have a wee boating excursion with a plumb line to confirm It is a large body of water and a very nice blue colour when the sun shines and so clear and no weed I can see at all -
-
Ok --thats what ithought only some are advertising black as suitabler for potable water--will ask them more questions
-
that could be true --but need to allow for worst scenario of sucking directly from quarry pond at this stage if you add 50% for hard rock thats over 20K and not having to run a 3phase cable down to pump at bottom of hill will save £2000--we will see what drilling men say this week
-
nope sucking will not work head of pump is always many times what it will suck ,would have to be 2 pumping stations -so might as well have one big one at bottom --juts needs 16bar pipe nick-- can you tell me is black pipng passed for potable water ?
-
not b+b but renting out parts of building as self contained accomodation
-
I will be asking for a quote for a 450 ft bore hole --but i thinkthey will never give a fixed price quote --we,ll try and even then will the flow be enough
-
still need a very large tank i talked to a eco guy from up north west who does this sort of thing and he admits that with even just 3 people his 9000litre tank runs out in dry times in may ,as its quite dry then my idea is not just a house for the 2 of us but as it is so big there will be 2-4 letting sections of it as well --so that means water usage will be quite large in summer when rain and stream is worst and maybe 12+ people If i rebuild all of the building it will be 700+sqm-- so how big a tank for that 30000litres? taking assumption that its 150litres a day per person --12 x150 ==1800 per day and could be more --so with say 3 weeks no rain --thats 37000litres- I know its all guess work --but now is the time to make sure you get it right the pump i,m looking will deliver 2000lpr hour --so will only need a sensible sized pressure vessel+ maybe a pump to keep pressure happy when al showers etc going at once . to be honest it would not cost that much more in the scale of the project to have twice that volume. I think there would be more pain with rainwater +purification system longterm
-
problem with that will be the adjacent quarry -- quite sure tthat with it being a sheer face within 80 yards of the house the subterranian water will go easiest way and I know there is water coming in to the quarry from the rock face at low level so there will be no water till you get down to below level of quarry pond --so thats 450 ft hole in solid granite drilled at a slant to be sure --its a big pond a good few acres could be wrong but thats a big expensive guess
-
I think I might be holding up completion till i have a reasonable solution --one that don,t cost 40K for water supply
-
or use an insulated type conrete floor set up and just uFh into that there are lots ofsystems now where you use insualtion as the base for the concrete floor /roof https://www.quadlock.com/ICF-Floors-and-Roofs/quad-deck.htm one of many izodom2000--ukagent is in scotland https://www.econekt.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/ECONEKT.-ICF-Elements-Brochure2.pdf see page 35 i,m sure lots of others as well
-
yes the road to get there ,which has no mains water on it--last house connected is 300m down the road and 60 m lower and then my own road of about 800yds is not viable. the easiest route would mean a wayleave through another piece of ground which is slopy very rough fields no gaurentee i would get it
-
I agree if I can find asuitable location for pump station --but std rate for blue mdpe is 12,5 bar not 14 -so still short to get 2 bar at house ,yes i could use a booster at house --but 16 bar pipe sorts it simpler - more later when definite numbers are known I still have to find a suitable route as well around the many rocky bits so I can bury it enough going straight up the face.which would be simpler , but that would mean fully insulated piping so it can,t freeze in winter the only insulated pipe I ,ve seen would be MEGA EXPENSIVE for the length required a knotty problem all round using rianwater and surface stream + very large tank would be a problem if we get a winter like is forecast--no rainwater and stream would be frozen iwonder how much insulation would be needed --for -14c when mians water will be around 5-8c
-
thanks ifound that website --but no mention of being WRAS approved and it needs to be 50 mm --but they do that as well -sent email for clarification
-
not sure i will use what i have --but maybe a good ebay sales item .LOL there are even soeme lengths of 4" plastic thick walled stuff -- not sure how long --but looks like a lot . and the scrap on the site-- huge winch s and rollers -- --all will help the coffers If i got enough of the 2" galv --maybe get a quote to re galv them -- and to think i sold an electric piping thread cutting bench a few years ago -- maybe going to need to hire one --
-
fully granite --you could paint a foundation line and build on it 6m is accpetable +hire of joing tool if nec## but will abs not be very rigid --will be hard to make trenchs for non flexible piping £6 m x 400 = alot you would need 2 pump houses then --no not a good choice I feel
-
yes could do -its twice the price of mdpe and as you say in rough uneven ground a pain to lay --it will be heavy diggin as most of it will be rock change when below 10bar --to be sure --not sure what the coulings are rated at ==that will be next hunting job --but suppose at a pinch could use compression fittings
